I have got both 32 bit software and 64 bift software that came with windows
    7 ultimate.What is the difference between 32 bit & 64 bit?How do I know
which to install on my own home computer to use? After I installed it on
my computer,How will I know I installed the right one on my computer?
My computer will let me install both of them,I tried them both.Right now
I have got the 64 bit on my computer. How will I know if I put the right one
on my computer or if I need to switch to the other one or not?I'm a
    windows 7 rookie.

If you successfully installed the 64 bit version, then your computer is compatible with it. The 64 bit version can allow some programs that were designed for 64 bit run faster. But the difference is small.

Some software comes in 64 bit and 32 bit versions. For instance Microsoft Office 2010 comes in both versions, as does Adobe Photoshop. You can still use the 32 bit versions of these programs with your 64 bit system, they will just run a little bit slower.

You won't have to switch back to a 32bit version of Windows, you should be good to go with the 64bit. Look for 64 bit versions of software when you buy it, and also look for 64 bit versions of drivers for hardware like printers etc.

64 and 32 bit refers to CPU types (also known as X64 and X86). A 64 bit CPU processes 2 times faster than a 32 bit CPU. In order to install 64 bit version of windows, you need to have a 64 bit CPU. Since you have successfully installed both of them, this means you have a 64 bit CPU. Usually it’s preferred to install the 64 bit version of windows if you have at least 4 GB of RAM. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System. In front of “System type” you should see the type operating system your machine is using.

64 version allow you to use more than 4Go of memory.
Some programs can make good use of that extra memory, but most don't need it.
If your computer doesn't have more than 4Go, then, the only advantage of W64 is faster execution (like 10/20%) of some programs specifically written for it.

Even if W64 offer some advantage over W32, it also generate more problems :

You may be unable to use old peripherals (printer, webcam etc...), because the drivers are not compatible.
You may have problems with some software pluggins.

If W64 works fine on your computer, keep it.

To know which version is installed, click on "system" in the control panel

To run the webcam, you need the programs and drivers that came with the webcam.

Personally, I use the freebie version of Avira. The only annoyance is the daily nag screen that tries to get me to buy the paid version.

Another issue is that it doesn't always catch new viruses right away. My spam filter gets most virus mails, but once in a while a virus attachment gets through. I like to save the attachments to my hard drive and scan them with Avira. So, far, Avira has always failed on that initial scan. It then takes a day or two before their virus definitions update covers it, and it is deleted during the nightly system scan.

This is exactly what made me go back to using AVG on my windows box. I liked Avira a little more (not really sure why), but hated the constant nag screen.

It is important to keep your laptop clean. Once a month you should fill your bathtub with warm, soapy water and soak your laptop in it for 5 minutes. Then rinse it with clean water and let it dry. This will keep your laptop clean and reduce the likelihood of getting any viruses.

Computers are not water proof or weather proof at all. That's
not how you keep your laptop computer clean.I maybe mentally
challenge and a slow learner but I'm not dumb at all.I'm not
a computer rookie at all.My laptop computer is my 3 rd new computer.I had lots of old and used computers in the past.
I'm not a computer expert but I'm not a computer rookie either.I'm a hardcore computer user these days.I bought
my new hp laptop computer from best buy last July 2012
with my tax refund 2012.I'm an intermediate computer user
that is trying refresh my own basic computer skills. My
own basic internet skills are better than my own basic
windows skills and my own basic computer skills.
