So a lot of times my friends (nearly all are straight - mostly guys but some girls) try to set me up all the time with other gay guys just because we're both gay.

This is pretty much always how it goes : "Oh, I got this gay guy I'd like you to meet....".

    "Why?" I ask.

"Because he's gay. Don't you want to meet him?"

For what? Why do people always do this, I wonder?

I'd like to hear some responses from people who encounter this from their straight or gay friends.

Then I'll explain my opinion on this.

I've encountered this a few times which is why I don't do blind dates anymore nor do I allow my friends to be involved in personal as far what kind of guys I like goes.

They might have good intentions but I'm not so far off the deep end where I need assistance in finding someone. It's a little insulting in my opinion and I'm not a charity case. Plus half the time they've attempted to find someone for me was someone that was the complete opposite of what I'm attracted to physically and mentally which adds injury to insult because it shows they don't pay attention to my likes or dislikes.

I don't try to hook up my friends so I wish they wouldn't do it to me.

My coworkers used to do that, till I started asking "is he hot?"
When that stopped working, I started saying "there's no way he could be as hot as you, so I'll pass and just enjoy the eye candy while we work together."

I just say OK but insist on meeting them in a group.... I don't do blind dates.... kind of awkward to me : /

So far none of the guys I've been set up with have been any big deal.... I'm guessing that's usually the case with most people.
