I did for a while in my early 20's, but finally snapped out of my depression and started listening to happy music. icon_biggrin.gif

It perplexes me how common it that people make comments like "Love all music except rap and country". Those two genres seem to take the most thrashing.

For me, I wouldn't say I am a "country music fan" per se, however there are many country songs I like (some Reba, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, etc).

I'll listen to folk any day, but I won't listen to country. Well, maybe some Dwight Yoakam..

    Here you go:

Not really my favorite genre but I do enjoy some country music every once in a while.

P.S. I just remembered one of my favorite love songs happens to be a country song, go figure.

Although I'm not a country fan, I DID dabble in a bit of "boot scootin' " back in the early 90s, when the popular music scene seemed to be comprised of grunge--ugh--or boy bands. Plus some of those line dances reminded me of the disco line dances of the 70s.
I don't like today's country but I DO appreciate the great female country singers like Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, and Dolly Parton.

I prefer country music over any other music. I like it all but like older country music not this new stuff that you really don't know what it is.

Matt Mason is a new artist that is up and coming and he has some good music.

I'm a pretty big country fan. I've been getting folk alot recently...though I love other genres as well.

here's Sugarland & Little Big Town doing a Madonna cover...not that I'm a Madonna (or Sugarland) freak or anything...its just not something you see alot of!

    One of my favorite songs:

They are very new, but very good. Almost like old country music.

I am going to see Sugarland in concert on May 7th!! Little Big Town and Matt Nathanson are opening up for them. Should be a great show! Country music concerts are the best to go to!

Because they are so polarizing.(opposite ends of the bookcase per se)

I love all types of music but especially Country. Most people say its depressing and yes some songs are but how is it more depressing than a gangster knocking up his girlfriend while shooting his bestfriend for drugs. I love acoustic guitar parts and alot of country artists are amazing at playing. Brad Paisley is one of my favorite and I just saw Rascall Flatts.

I was a fan until the whole country industry trashed the Dixie Chicks, for saying they were embarrassed that Bush was from Texas.

I wish I could say it was an isolated few, but it was the whole industry.

I do like a select few; Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson

I find it too whiney. If you play your average country song backwards, you get your guy/girl back, your truck back, your dog back and so on and so forth.

i'm not tryin' to argue with your distaste for the genre, just point out that your arguments against it kinda suck.

    1. being a redneck, if you are referring more the country / farmer folk, isn't a bad thing. it is just a different lifestyle than yours, motivated by different life goals and values.

    2. you can say you think CM is boring; everybody has and is entitled to their own opinion. but to say that it is boring is false. if it were boring, then nobody would listen to or like it.

anyway, go ahead and hate country, just describe your hate for it differently. no need to directly bash what people enjoy.

There is so much BAD twangy torchy country music that it overshadows the really good country music. I only discovered it by accident, driving through the farmers fields filled with cows and crops on my way to work in Alliston, flipping through the channels on the radio. There are tons of hot male country singers. Eye candy is fun, but search YouTube for David Nail's Red Light. That's the face of the new country music scene. Well there are others, but he's an urban cowboy.
