So... Im chatting with this guy tonight who asks to see a picture of my body and after I show it to him makes a comment about my muscle build.

I dont understand where guys get off thinking it is acceptable to be rude and make a crack like that instead of just saying, "hey man, youre not what Im looking for."

I dont have a lean, cut body... but I do work out 6x a week and have gone from 225 lbs of fat to 205 lbs of mainly muscle. I wouldnt call myself fat by any stretch of the imagination. But, pictures dont exactly capture the best in a person.

This kind of behavior pissed me off so much! Anyone else have stories like this?

Yes they are douche bags because they are Gay, does it mean you are one too? I'm just playing with you man. Some people don't have good internet social skills and because you aren't necessarily obligated to show your face on the web you can get away with more. People are simply less likely to consider one's feelings. Don't let it get to you. Move on. There are other Sodomites in the sea and they float. They ALL float down (t)here.

PS Don't be so quick to make blanket statements, due to an isolated experience on the net. That attitude is a dime a dozen here and needs to be eradicated.

Oh for sure. Not all gay guys are douches. Ive met some awesome guys online, and I am also online. I have a motto: If you wouldnt say it to their face, dont say it online. After all, there is still a person behind that profile.

Yes, but not everyone will apply those same standards to their interactions with folks on the internet. That's what being an individual is about. Look to this experience as a reminder of what not to do when communicating with others. Do not scapegoat all Homosexuals based on a minor negative experience! Chin up chest out man!!! icon_cool.gif

Furthermore, if you met some awesome guys online then why not make another thread with the title "Gay guys are filled with awesome" instead? icon_razz.gif Boast about your positive experiences more than you would your negative. Energy flows where attention goes. icon_wink.gif

It's the glory of anonymity. You can say whatever you like and not be available for retaliation. It's passive aggressive. It's the internet.

Oh how I miss the days of even undergrad classes with 499 other students of which I will never meet. It's the perfect opportunity to post whatever you want in a classroom forum. Everything is open for interpretation on the internet.

Don't let it get to you.

Dude, the computer screen cuts off normal people from reality. They don't behave like they would if you were face to face. Be happy you found out he was a loser before things got worse. But take it as a lesson and try to avoid those kinds of yahoos in the future.

Hang out with the cool kids...like us..

    Peace,

You're right, he was a douche. Therefore not worth spending any time on, or being wound up about. Let it go and leave him to his doucheyness.

dude, it is not a gay thing. its a human being thing. there are a lot of people who do that. however, i do understand where you are coming from. i say do not take it so personal and move on but make sure you tell the person there was no need to rude. that way, he knows not to do it again. he simply not be aware that he comes off that way.

    Agreed.
The only way to be pushed down is if you let yourself.

His opinion should not matter to you if you believe in who you are, what you have achieved and where you are headed.

If he behaves like that would you really want to be dating him?
People tend to feel negative because something with potential didn't go down the desired course. Accept the possibility it may never have gone were you wanted it too.
In which case good thing he did fuck off, can focus more time on finding the right guy.

It's this. Any rules about decorum are out the window when it comes to online social interaction. Miss Manners has no place on the www, as etiquette doesn't exist here.

Hey Samasaurusrex, great progress! Congrats! Keep it up! Don't let anyone else dissuade you from it. Most times when people are douches like that, they're projecting their own issues onto you, meaning it's rarely about you at all. Disengage from their douchiness and remember your own self-esteem and power. icon_smile.gif

    Good luck!

It's not. But you can hook up anywhere if you look for it... the beach, school, work, a dinner party, walking down the street... why not here, too?

Guys on RJ have a severely skewed perception of gay men because all they see on RJ generally are gay guys with handsome faces, beautiful muscular bodies, hot profiles, etc. The funny thing is, guys on RJ are not representative of the gay population. The guys on RJ (and I'm talking about those guys with real/recent pictures and real profiles--not the fake or fantasy ones) are on RJ precisely because they know they're basicaly the cream of the crop--otherwise, they wouldn't have the guts to put themselves out there for public scrutiny. Within that context, you are likely to run into shallow gay guys on RJ who are full of themselves and think that they have carte blanche to treat people who don't look nearly as good as them like dirt.
