Taylor, who died Wednesday at 79 after being in ill health for some time, was a tireless advocate for AIDS awareness and research and is revered by the gay community for her support and philanthropy.

"Fred Phelps and his vitriolic anti-gay followers are simply trying to exploit their so-called 'faith' by spreading messages of hate at a time when Americans are grieving the loss of an extraordinary woman, actress and advocate," GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios tells E! News.

Which is why I doubt they'd dare. They only appear at less than half of what they announce, usually at some largely unknown service member's funeral, unexpectedly. And I mentioned before on here when they once showed up at our annual June Pride picnic in Fargo, North Dakota.

They were actually sponsored and hosted by a local Baptist congregation, which upset us more than the Phelps themselves. Those WBC freaks do their sick thing and leave town, but the thought that our own neighbors would endorse them was much more disturbing, people who lived among us all the time.

And I still don't think they'll dare show.
