The word "seething" is nowhere to be found in the article. I didn't see anything that struck me as a reasonable synonym to "seething" either. Your title, along with "dumb down" also never used, is over-dramatized and misleading. This is the actual title and subtitle:

School cuts raise doubts among some GOP voters -
They worry that the cuts will undermine the quality of their local districts

You were all quite upset about a title in another thread yesterday. Why not just use the article title as the thread title?

I'll also note that the term "buyer's remorse" was not used either, but that was a reasonable characterization from the handful of people interviewed for the article.

It should be noted that this article does not purport to represent any scientific sample of popular opinion. Selecting a half-dozen, or so, people provides an excellent opportunity for a slanted story. The reporter had a theme and happened to quote only people who supported his theme. He did mention a meeting and said approx half had a differing opinion, but guess what, none of those folks were interviewed. Imagine that!

The so called dumbing down of America is due to the extreme right wing element in the GOP. To say that all republicans are at fault is wrong.

That may well be true, and I hope it is. But all those non-extreme Republicans are doing a damned bad job reining in the extremists. I used to vote GOP, a rather long time ago, but I realized that I simply could not support a party which brought the right-wing religious wing-nuts,the haters, and the simplistic, one-size-fits-all hardliners that come riding in with it, and that it panders to.

SoCal, don't try to tell us that the Repubs haven't tried to, accomplished and benefited from dumbing down their base. Do you remember such statements as 'we need to fight them over there rather than here' 'because they hate our freedoms' (symplified verson" this from Bush to dumb down Americans for the purpose of getting votes and backing for a war with Iraq.

How about "he isn't one of us", "He's a Muslim", "he doesn't think like we do", "he was born in Kenya", "Obama hates America", "Obama palls around with terrorists" and blah blah blah during the election. Move on a little further in time after his being President for a year and its, "Death Panels", Fema Training Camps to indoctrinate our youth", "Obama is leading us into a Islamist takeover", "we must legislate agains Sharia Law".

Just before last years election, it was all about the terrors of "Obama's taking over healthcare", "Obama should show his birth cirtificate", "Obama is apologizing to the world", "Obama is Anti Jew", "Obama is ruining our country with trillions of dollars of debt" (claiming no culpability from repubs for The Bush years of racking up debt) more death panel claims and the list of scare tactics and false claims and etc. goes on and on and the Repub base and many others jumped aboard to sweep Repubs in on a claim of restoring jobs and all they've done is take away from the masses and given more to those with plenty.
