Found this earlier today, and think its pretty interesting. First time a link has been found between a brain chemical(serotonin) and sexual preference in mammalian species has been found.

Of course I'm sure this will be blown out of proportion by certain groups of people who will use this as evidence that homosexuality is due to a chemical imbalance etc etc etc and that it can be cured...despite it only being researched in mice, and their hasn't been any evidence of SSRI's(Anti-depressants) which act on serotonin in the brain, having any effect on sexual preference on homosexuals who take them; myself included. Just found it an interesting article/study and figured Id share icon_wink.gif

HERE WE GO! First mice, then humans. I know we are anatomically different, but soon there will be "cures" for homosexuality. It's like X-Men minus the cool battle scenes.

Well, actually it's not new news. On functional MRI's gay men's brains react differently to stimuli than str8 men's brains...More like women's brains, but not exactly like women's brains. For the last few decades the scientific thinking has been that sexual preference develops before birth, during a critical period where the mother's hormones during a period of stress redirect the part of our DNA that determines our gender. I sound like the gay closeted guy on Big Bang Theory, I think, but that's the dealio so far as I know it.

The important difference being that mice are initially motivated by smell, whereas initial human arousal is derived primarily from visual cues. What works for mice does not neccesarily work for us.

Apparently, increased levels of seratonin cause the mice to wear shirts too tight and go to dance parties really late at night.

If brings new meaning to going into a mousehole.
