What are some of your favorite fashion advertisements and/or editorials?

    Balenciaga, F/W 1998/1999
I like the funerary-like feel invoked and simplicity.

    Balenciaga, S/S 2001
The 'hand-drawn' birds in vibrant colors really captures your attention, as does their placement over her body and face

    Gucci, S/S 2000
What could this ad be saying about men and women?

I don't know any of them specifically because I've chosen not to surround myself with stuff to try to enhance any ego or falsities about life...

but I do like GQ's shots.

When did appreciating interesting fashion ads become connected with ego enhancement or the building-up of the falsities of life? It's simply about fashion advertisements that catch your eye and why they do.

A good section of people who are so get obsessed with them, emulate, throw their belief's that only people who look like that... and such. I wasn't meaning towards you or anyone in particular at all. I appreciate them myself and know they're not really real or true to life. I was saying in-general.

To help mend what I think I may have offended...

Stuff kind of like this. I was looking for one with Robert Downey Jr with his eyes lit by a circle light but I couldn't find it. :3

I don't pay much attention to ads, but I love editorials.

Here's a couple of my favourites:

    That's some good stuff.

While not quite an editorial, this was a good read and the photography was quite good. Besides, it had the gorgeous Karen Elson and uber-handsome (to me at the least since I LOVE men with beards/facial hair) Stefano Pilati.

My favorite campaign has to be for Calvin Klein underwear. For better or worse, their ads were pretty much the first to objectify men as sex objects, starting with Markie Mark. But you have to give them credit, they also revolutionized men's underwear with the introduction of the boxer brief.

EVERYTHING is offensive to women, whatever!
People need to have a sense of humour and not takes certain things so seriously.
When i saw that Gucci ad, i immediately saw the model's erection, and for Mr. Ford to get away with that was GENIUS!
America as a society has a double standard; We're obssessed with sex, yet we're prudish and uptight at the slightest carnal suggestion.
Again, for Mr. Ford to bring the irony to his ads with a sly humour is genius.
    Bravo! icon_biggrin.gif
