Why do all of the threads about racism only discuss it in its vertical form while completely ignoring all of the horizontal racism that goes on?

There are a ton of form topics dealing with race on this site but pretty much all of them are either. “do white guys like us threads” or “why don’t white guys like us threads.”

It seems unfair to put the burden of racism amongst gays squarely on the shoulders of white men because its pretty evenly distributed among all of us. In fact, in my experience, white men are the LEAST racist group out of all of us. But you would never know this because no one ever discusses

That there are a lot of black men who only date other black men

That many Asian men Prefer white men (and in some cases other asians) but would not date someone who was black, latino, Indian etc.

There are lots of sub categories of racism like the ones above but for some reason they never get mentioned. If we are going to continue to talk about racism on here-and I’m inclined to believe we are- then we should lose this myopic focus on white racism and take a look at the broader interaction between all groups.

Just a thought...and only my opinion, but it might be because whites are much more vocal and "public" about being racist. Just consider the KKK and the way blacks were, have been, and in many cases STILL treated in the South.
In the area I live...the whites are becoming the minority due to the influx of the Mexicans choosing this area which is close to the border.
I never really thought I would consider myself racist, but to be perfectly honest, I'm sick and tired of not hearing English spoken when I go the store and hearing the "OOOpmah" music blaring out of car windows at every traffic light.
Seeing the Mexican flag flying in the front yard of too many homes in this area is REALLY getting on my nerves!! If Mexico is so f*cking great...GO HOME!!!

Thing is most expats (whatever the reason for not being in their countries is) do get homesick, and the more so if they're hispanics. And sometimes Americans do the same.

Here in Mexico, in big cities there are communities of expats and they do the same: they fly the Colombian/Equatorial/Venezuelan/whatever flag and go on and on on why their country is the promised land and want us to taste their traditional food (yummy!) and listen to their music (Shakira is ah-OK, and Juanes!) and wouldn't it be wonderful if we were to visit their country?

They miss their land and culture so they overcompensate idealizing it, that's it. The same goes for people as different as the Lebanese or even, gasp!, the Japanese here in Mexico.

I actually do like it. You get to learn about other culture from people enthusiast for it.

Hmmm. Uncle Tom trying to score points with the white boys??? lol j/k.

Perhaps because this site is majority white and the majority of the racism is white on (pick your non-white race).

    Yeah.

In my city we have an humongous Nissan car factory (I keep hearing is the biggest outside Japan, but I haven't investigated that claim; but it is ridiculously big). So there is a notable Japanese community.

I see Japanese families in the supermarket, mall or movie theaters (they are always super polite!) frequently. But mostly they keep to themselves and a friend who worked in Nissan says that they do miss Japan and while they aren'y pushy about their country, one way to make them talk and talk is asking them to explain stuff about Japanese culture, food, etc.

Also, is a good guess to say that there are people from all over the world in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, etc. The big cities.

To say a that a racial group is more or least racist than others is moronic. Everyone is racist and predujice to some degree, some more than others.

75% of the U.S population is White. No shit white people are going to be found "more" racist than other races.

Someone once asked me why most Gay people are White? umm because there are more White people than there are other races in the U.S.

Um, the bigger problem is why minorities care if white people find them attractive.

On a personal level, among other races, sure I find white guys attractive. However, if a white guy...or an asian guy...or a hispanic guy doesn't find me attractive - only because of the color of my skin - then who cares? My worth is not determined by who finds me attractive.

I'd honestly advise minorities to stop buying into this inferiority complex when it comes to race and dating. You're only as inferior as you allow yourself to feel, or something stupid like that.

    ---

Lastly, you can't really assume people are racist if they don't respond to your messages, which is from where I think these "why don't white people like me" pity party posts originate. Yawn. Yawn. Yawn.

Why don't the Middle Eastern guys date me?
    icon_cry.gif

Naw, but seriously, I never really saw racism being that pervasive of an issue in the gay community. All of my friends (gay, straight) have no problem getting a guy/girl in bed and from what I can tell, treated just about the same across the board.

Thinking back on it, I may have seen 'gay racism' only once or twice but the guy usually was too full of himself anyways and left the club alone with only that stick in his ass keeping him company.
