Aborting... gay babies? With their tiny little gay fingernails?

    OK...

There are rational arguments for abortion-on-demand rights for women. You have cases like teen pregnancies, families in dire financial/emotional situations, etc.

There are also emotional arguments like "Hands' off her body you twit pro-lifer!" also. And of course there are arguments against such rights both rational and emotional.

Now follow me into this thought experiment:

Whatever your opinion is about this... would it be changed somewhat in rational or emotional terms if there was a simple test who could accurately indicate the odds of a fetus being gay in the future?

Like if it says 65%, the mother could say:

    - "No way I'll have a gay son!" or
    - "Mmmmh, I don't feel like having that drama down the road" or
    - "Nah, I already have a gay son and love it, I just want a daughter-in-law!" or
    - Whatever

An then abort in order to try again.

A very undesirable prenatal condition like Down Syndrome already has abortion rates around 70%-90% in developed countries (And, no, I'm not comparing gayness to a disease -I'm gay myself, remember -just saying that for some people gayness can be an undesirable enough condition in their offspring to consider abortion) so is not without precedent.

If there were a(nother) gay holocaust, but this time of pre-born maybe-gay-kids. What would you think?

    Nothing?
    Would you join the pro-lifers?
Would you participate in a campaign to discourage abortions in general?
Would you want to focus on informing pregnant women that gay is good?
Or guilt-trip them into having their possibly gay son... how she dares think killing him "he already has fingernails!... gay fingernails, but still..."!
Our would you want to participate in activism to accelerate the process of acceptance of gayness in society and don't bother with the abortion debate?

Would you think is horrible that being possibly gay in the future can get a fetus aborted or... whatever the would-be-mother says?

I'll add my own take in my next post in the thread to not make this one longer.

Here's a question back at you - are you Mister Richard Feder from Fort Lee, NJ?

That's an awful lot of questions to answer at this late hour. Instead, let me refer you to the film version of "Twilight of the Golds;" you'd find its conceit interesting. See the movie in its entirety here: http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/jb-in-twilight-of-the-golds-part-1/5e073bca5db09a5a0f0a5e073bca5db09a5a0f0a-423933444486?q=twilight+of+the+golds&FROM=LKVR5>1=LKVR5&FORM=LKVR14

Thanks, I promise I'll see the movie during the week icon_smile.gif. And nope, I'm not from New Jersey, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I loved that movie... a bit creepy to think about such a future, but I enjoyed it.

I'm already pro-life. Abortion should occur only in exceptional circumstances.

Really there's not much difference between what you posited and already occurring sex selective abortions.

I dislike the abuse of abortion intensely, but also realize it's not my call to make. I'm a man and it's not my body. The abortion rate in North America is about 21 per 1,000 pregnancies.
