Do you guys usually remember people's names? I am usually good with people's names except when I meet a bunch of people at once. I usually remember names that are unique OR if I like that person or thought they were good looking icon_razz.gif

I seem to remember the names of the guys at the gym lol

I remember last names better than I do first names. Unless it's a unique first name.

I am fucking AWFUL at names. Even when I am talking to a super hot guy I am interested in, I can't remember his name.

At the bar the other night I met some guy whose name was Drew. We were all saying "oh cool" because my friend who I was with is also named Drew and he even mentioned how it would be easy to remember then. So a little later I went to enter his number into my phone and I just blanked. I sat there staring at it for maybe 10 seconds, then I tried my classic line to try to get someone to tell you their name. I said "How do you spell your name?" and he goes "DREW! We had a conversation about this!!!"

    Embarrassiiiiiiiiiiiing....

I'm pretty bad with names, especially with females. I think that's probably because I meet more females than I do guys, and since my class ratio of guys to girls is like 5:60 I always feel bad not knowing the names of people I'm working with since everyone always knows the guy names.

I am horrible at remembering names. It is not because I don't care... well thats not true, i don't care most of the time... but its more because i have really bad short term memory.

I suck with names. Now that I'm in college, I'm meeting new people basically every day and seeing them maybe once a month, and then I forget their name. If and when I see them again, then it becomes an embarrassing conversation.

An example of this was a basketball player at my school. We literally had the same conversation the first two times we met. Talk about awkward.

Same icon_sad.gif I usually have to interact with someone 2 or 3 times for the name to stick in my brain. I meet a lot of people in my work and things I am involved with and it can lead to semi-embarassing moments. For example I will run into someone in a different context, I know I know them but I can't place from where or their name. I have tried the techniques for remembering names but they just don't seem to work for me - sigh!

I can remember names very well, if I want to. Most of the time, it's not someone I care to remember. If I see the person I'll recognize them, and talk to them, just not use there name.

Most people don't get offended if you ask for their name again.

Remembering my names is a large part of my job and just like anything else in life, if you practice it (it being remembering people's names), then it comes more easily to you.

I find most people consider themselves "horrible" at remembering names, and most are very gracious when you use this phrase I've practiced many times:

"Please forgive me, but I seem to have forgotten your name."

    Works every time!

That's because they probably forgot your name as well lol

It's kind of stupid to forget someone's name after you have meet them and seen then several times and interacted with them icon_razz.gif Like, I have only seen you 100x and spent time w/ you or around you!! LOL I had ppl ask me my name after I had told them more than once icon_evil.gif

"There is no sound sweeter to any person, than the sound of their own name."

I've learned to remember people's names by being present and really paying attention to others. When I hear a person's name, I use it with them in conversation a few times. I mentally say their name as I look at their face.

When in a group. I don't "move on" to the next person until I have remembered their name. Then, as I meet each additional person in the group, I will either verbally say the names of the persons who I met previously, or do so in my head.

When I am with a friend, and we meet somebody who is a friend of my friend, if I am not introduced by name, I will ask the other person's name. This helps my friend if he/she forgot their friends' name.

Life is all about relationships. Using and remembering people's names is a way to show that you care. When people sense that you care about them, all kinds of good things happen whether they are good looking or not.

I interned at a place where the "thing" was for everyone to know everyone's names and use them constantly. I carried a little notepad and made notes to remember. "Patrick, bald guy. Ally, weird eyes. Jake, big. Michael, cute guy." Everyday I was like oh god I hope no one finds this.

I'm terrible with names, but uncanny at remembering faces. I have spotted random strangers and remember seeing them in someplace else. I recently spotted a fellow RJ member on a video I saw...I may have freaked him out when I asked about it.
