    Hey RealJocks,

So a while ago I posted my face pics on here, which was a big step for me. I have recently begun the process of actually telling people about my sexual preferences. So far, it has been a really good experience.

Anyway, there are a lot of negative-type forums, so I thought I'd have a positive one!

This site has meant a lot to me, talking to / "meeting" all of you guys has been great. Thank you to those who are positive and supportive, to those who break the stereotype. Thanks to those who are not self-obsessed drama queens, those who try to be less superficial. Thanks to those who are not trolls. Finally, thanks to those who actually make meaningful contributions to forums and such. Not just silly-rude-judgmental-pointless-waste-of-time-annoying-whiny posts.

While I realize this post isn't very.. content-full, (and is kind of all about me icon_confused.gif ), I really mean this, it is important to me.

Once again, thank you guys. icon_smile.gif

I love this forum. I have been searching for a high-traffic gay forum for years and just never came across. I feel I can relate to everyone here so much better.

Even though I can be superficial judgemental and pointless drama queen sometimes, I'm glad to read this and to realize that more and more people are able to get something more than fitness advices from this resourceful website.

Yes, it's only posts, threads, forums and profiles, but many users don't realize how this website can be a major factor in some people's struggle with self-acceptance.

    Thanks for reminding us icon_smile.gif

Oh, and you're gorgeous, by the way icon_wink.gif

I'm happy we've been able to help. I really like RJ. I'm not an OP very often, but one of the things I've seen is that there's a lot of wisdom on this site. And while there is drama, it's nothing like the other sites I've belonged to. This is one of only two gay sites I belong to.

Thanks for the update... glad to hear that it is getting better!
    (That it's not just a propaganda slogan. (: )

    One minor quibble:

    ivyjock> sexual preferences

I'm not the PC Police, but I do believe that language matters.

Unless one is bisexual (to whatever extent), it's not a "preference".
(Though I do, often, prefer dogs to people.)

    How about "sexual orientation" instead?

And one more, especially prevalent in the sporting world:

    e.g.> that's 3 straight wins for team X

Whatever happened to the word "consecutive'?!

    [/pet peeve]

Ivyjock, I am glad that you found this site and I agree with you. It is also helping me explore who I am a little more. It is nice to know there are so many people out there that share common goals and motivate you to be better than you are today.

    Stay strong and congratulations!

I'm actually verklempt. icon_smile.gif Seriously, though, it's a truly touching post. I'm glad everything is working out for you. There are indeed some really thoughtful, kind, and supportive gay guys on RJ. We're not all self-destructive, hysterical, egomaniacal, self-indulgent, mean-spirited drama queens--that's for sure!

Congrats Ivyjock, and here's wishing you all of the best luck.

I can relate because after my folks found out in real life, RJ was the first online forum/ social network/ personals site... basically, anything where I had a profile... where I put my face pictures up and said "Yep, I'm gay!" (possibly influenced by Ellen's coming out, I was very malleable at that age).

Some time after that I dropped RJ for a while and actually missed it enough to come back. The fact that not everybody gets along and not everybody is an optimistic champion for good almost makes it a little bit more real. It's like the grab bag of personalities you would get anywhere in person. The support does feel great, though.

    Cheersicon_biggrin.gif

Congrats Ivyjock and thanks for sharing a really positive RJ experience. This site is full of some amazing guys...along with the regular cast of misfit toys (I mean boys).
