The word "cute"

Anyone else feel people say this as code for "just not into you?"

As my high school Latin teacher told my class many years ago: "Cute means nothing."

I don't think its that bad of a description to describe people. Sometimes 'sexy' is too sultry and handsome too 'desperate', hot can be seen as too 'sex-oriented', so people settle on cute. I use it quite frequently to many guys that I would be more than willing to get with.

Yup...I think it's often a "safe" word for people to use...It's non-committal enough that you can move the convo in one direction if someone responds positively, or you can easily backtrack if you get rebuffed.

I disagree. "Cute" to me is just a different type of attractiveness. There are several guys I think are "cute" that I would totally do. Although "handsome" is preferable.

The moment somebody calls you cute, they pretty much give away that they feel they are more confident than you... big enough to describe you as you would other things that are "smaller" or "less grown up"... like puppies, ducklings, and just about ANYTHING miniature.

I'm actually into cute. When I call someone cute its a total compliment.

"sexy" or "hot" has more of an animalistic sexual connotation like you want to rip their clothes off

"handsome" is what a mom calls her son.

"beautiful" I sometimes use but it really seems more made to describe a woman.

    but...
if you get "stunning" from me, you know you are gettin' some tonight! icon_wink.gif

That's not true at all... I think you're gorgeous, but I'd call you cute. It's a term of endearment depending on the person as long as it's not said condescendingly.

This. There are so many ways to say and mean the word cute. I've been very into guys I thought of as cute. Being cute doesn't preclude being sexy or being relationship material.

I think of cute as being attractive in a more boyish way and hot as being attractive in a more manly way... so both are good to me. Basically, I would probably call an attractive bottom "cute" and an attractive top "hot." The word I use when I'm not really into someone who's just sent me their pictures or whatever is "nice."

I use the word "cute" all the time. I hardly ever say "hot." I think the word "hot" is too fleeting. So temporary. If someone is describes as "hot," it just feels like they are only hot for a certain amount of time before they become a has-been.

I actually think "cute" is a compliment just like "hot" or handsome.

I know this can sound a bit girly, but I usually say things like:

OH MY GOD! He is soooooo CUTE!!! He is an absolute DREAMBOAT!!! He is soooooo GORGEOUS!!! Look at his gorgeous hair and his beautiful eyes!!! Goodness gracious, he is absolutely ADORABLE!!!

I can't help it. This is just how I describe men that I like. Sometimes it can sound like a fanatic teen from the 1980s gushing over Simon Le Bon or the lead singer of the Thompson Twins. Like totally awesome. LOL

Aron Kader is soooooooo CUTE and scrumptious. He is super-fine too.

When I think a guy is cute, I think he's pretty damn attractive. Usually a description for babyfaced hotties, or 18 year olds. >.>

    Definitely not a bad thing.
