It depends on the crime. If he was in jail for a traffic violation or a drunk bar fight, easily over looked. Now if were talking murder, rape incest, drug dealing, grand larceny, grand theft or anything that involved a weapon not used for self defense purposes.... I'm OUT!

Yup.. some crimes are minor now a days.. seems like you can get in a lot of trouble for things most of us did as kid's or young adults for fun.
I know here in Scottsdale you have to register as a sex offender just for getting caught urinating in public..
    CRAZY!
But then again if he is ripped and handsome I can get past a bad past.. Haha

by far this is the owrst thing to ever judge a guy by. i have been arrested and sat in jail - withmy buds laughing at the night we just had. we as a sciety put laws into place to be followed (those laws differ fom state to state) and one can be arrested for dumb things. so no i dont judge a guy, if i like a guy i look at the whole picture not his criminal record. i dont jusge a guy by his past, hell if did that most gay men would never stand a chance

    depends on the crime, really

    misdemeanors, i don't really care

felonies, i'd probably be more cautious (it speaks volumes about character and his sense of judgment); of course you always have those "wrong place at the wrong time" scenarios, but even then, why risk it?

    depends on what you did...

if someone stole a loaf of bread, a bottle of milk etc... because he is hungry and doesn't have money... then I would date him if he met my criteria...

but if he beat up a kid down the block out of anger and as a result of not being able to control his anger, then no, I will not date him.

How do I know he won't go through a similar phase with me?

Sounds fishy to me, everytime the police find drugs or weapons on someone it's always conveniently someone else's. Why were the cops searching his place to begin with? If it's you and you know you didn't do wrong intentionally, then watch the company you keep. If it's someone you're thinking about dating then be careful. That's all I can say.

If I knew for a fact that they had been arrested for something of that nature, then I'm not into the drugs and gun toting scene so no I'd probably let someone who was more into "bad boy" types take a spin with them.

OF COURSE I'd date a guy whose been in jail. The more times and the longer they've been in the more I'm turned on. Only exceptions are if they were in for rape or murder. Can't date one of those. But if they were in jail for theft, grand theft, physical fight, selling drugs, prostitution, etc., I really don't care so long as they're not currently doing it.

That's fucking retarded for putting a drunken person who has to pee in the SAME category as a sober person who likes to touches a little boy's pee pee. I mean seriously retarded. Putting pissing and rape in the same category is only thought up by someone who has a severe mental handicap. Does Scottsdale register someone as a murderer every time they kill a spider?

Ya i see where your coming from.... well the crime i was talking about.. Is gun and drugs all tho he didnt no it was in his apt because his friend left it there without saying anything... And the cops showed up looked in the house.. found it.. and because he didnt say whose it was, he got arrested for it.. would it change your outlook on things, if he changed for the better and cutt out all the bad people in his life...

Reading your post as well as Jagjock, I will say that, Yes, it's horrible to judge someone.. God knows the cruelty of judgement however I don't no if I could befriend someone enough to spend personal quality time with that toted a gun and dealt drugs. It's not something that I'd want to be associated w/ for the very same reasons that your friend found himself in.
Ask yourself why the police showed up to his house and was there a search warrant involved? I think there's more to this story. In any case ppl do change and if the impact of his life to yours is positive...... ENJOY IT!

The 'system' aka law is fucked up. They drag things out for months.

And I agree with what someone said earlier. I wasn't a big fighter in high school, but I did get into about 2 or 3 fights during my entire 4 years. Did I ever get arrested? No.

But, if you as so much even slap a person in a bar...all of a sudden you're charged with assault, then if you lose then you have to do community service, bail, car impound, probation...

Not that I've ever done that, but It can happen! All over 1 slap that someone probably deserved. It was 1 night, yet the law wants to hang a boulder around your neck for the rest of your life.

If you have a thinking mind and there is a choice involved with respect to your reaction to something and you don't choose the best scenario, then you are out of my book.

    Intelligence is required for dating.

I wood only date won if he wasn't still in prison. If he was arrested but released it wood be ok. If he served thyme it wood not. It would mean that he wasn't smart enough two get off.
