I've read some previous posts on here with some awesome links to health reports detailing the ill effects of plastic drink-ware (water bottles, canteens, etc.) containing BPA. Does anyone know if stainless steel products have any safety concerns as well?

I’m trying to switch strictly to stainless steel to avoid any type of plastic, but don’t want to be trading one health risk for another.

Has anyone read any studies or have links to something on the subject? Tried a search myself, but couldn’t find anything.

Yes. Stainless steel bottles will produce exactly the same effects as plastic bottles.

If you want to panic about something, they'll leach nickel into your acidic drinks.

1 part per billion is the contamination rate for most beverage containers. Its minuscule and isn't worth paying attention to. Also, are you forgetting that ever liquid we consume has been in a man made container.. Which means everything we drink is contaminated. But if you compare that to the contamination of, lets say, unfiltered water with a contamination rate of 1 part per thousand. You are much better off drinking filtered water through a stainless steal water part or plastic compared to a stream or lake.
