My Partner -- Amazing Again Last Night!

Last night (Sunday) we were planning to eat those "Dungeon" crab (Dungeness), that my partner had bought for us. And that he keeps comically mispronouncing, as I wrote about in another recent thread.

But he got a phone call, inviting us to join 2 other guys at the gay C&W bar "Scandals" some of you may know in Wilton Manors. And I said OK, just so long as we don't stay more than a few minutes, returning in time to eat those crab, my favorite!

Scandals is just down the street from us. And on the way we ran into one of our gay neighbors coming home, and invited him, too, who then phoned his partner to also join us, making 6.

Of course we stayed longer than I wanted, but having a great time with good friends, glad to provide company to the 2 who had invited us, weekend "orphans" whose own partners were each out of town on business. But then my partner says "You guys wanna have dinner at our place?"

I quickly (and selfishly) asked him if we had enough crab for that. No, he replied, but I have other food. OK, but that means I've gotta create a table setting, whereas by ourselves we'd practically eat on paper picnic ware.

The couple declined dinner, but the orphans came back with us. After I had set them up with cocktails in the living room I quickly set the table. I chose an all-black theme, very easy for me to make: black place mats on the glass table, black tableware, black cloth napkins, black serving dishes, black stemware, black everything. Except for white, nude reclining male statues as decoration, flanked by large all-white candles on low white holders for contrast. Took me less than 10 minutes.

I rejoined our guests, while meanwhile hubby's in the kitchen, making a surf & turf! Everyone getting an individual steak and lobster tail, along with baked potato and vegetable, with small side cups of drawn butter and au jus. Oh, and the sour cream for the potatoes made by myself earlier in the day, using fresh chives we grow ourselves, intended for our crab dinner. And he was done in barely 30 minutes, how I cannot tell you. Nor did I know we had steaks and lobster tails lying around. I think he conjured them up.

Our friends were stunned. They expected something haphazard and maybe leftovers. Instead they got surf & turf in a stunning setting (if I do say so myself). Are we not gay? icon_wink.gif

But tonight I DO want my Dungeness crab, and I'm turning off the phones if necessary to prevent any change of plans. But I gotta hand it to my partner, he really can be amazing in a kitchen. (A kitchen still uncleaned from last night, which is my job this morning. icon_razz.gif Oh, well, it was worth it)

I don't like the word "partner".....sounds odd saying it to describe that you're in relationship with said person…anyways

    Ohjeeze.

I hope I have that kind of money/time when I'm your age. Lobster and crab, separate tableware, nude male table decorations. Themed tableware...

    Jee-zus.

With a degree in Electrical Engineering, grads are starting at 60K a year ( and that's in Michigan), so I have little doubt that you will end up as wealthy or wealthier than our good friends Art and partner. icon_wink.gif
