My partner and I are headed to PV on 9 April 2011 and we will stay for about ten days. This will be our second trip and we had a blast last year. Would be nice to meet up with men, other couples, for friendly good times. We're not necessarily looking to hook up. Easy going, athletic (rugby), masculine, friendly and adventurous. I am a sober guy and my partner (42yo) drinks very little, so we dislike spending a lot of time in bars and clubs.

    Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

    (NOT interested in rent-a-boys)

You are already gone, but if you read this do Diana's tour out in the oceana and to a beach, a lot of fun. Lots of drinking on board, so if you can handle that it is a nice day.

You CAN negotiate a good deal in Puerto Vallarta.

Especially if you're going now, as the high season ends, you can get great discounts for your hotel.

Stay in the Zona Romantica. It's the most gay and most fun for walking too.

We've had a home in PV for over ten years and love it more and more.

The only months I would avoid there is July thru September.....though some of our friends love the Summer too, as it is the least touristed time.

Thanks for all comments. In the end, we stayed at the Tropicana, a family hotel in the Zona Romantica, and had a suite with am amazing view of the ocean, kitchenette, great beds etc, all for $85 per night. We also went back to the wonderful restaurant Amapa Sunset, which we discovered last year. Fantastic food, elegant service, right on the beach. My birthday dinner for two, including drinks, fine wines and a gratis birthday cake came to $74US. Highly recommended. On a subsequent night, a similar dinner at Las Palapas costs us $125! Palapas is still good, but the entrees now have New York prices.

Tropicana is a great choice. You are close to everything you want and right on the Gay Beach.

Next time, visit Coco's Kitchen, about 2 blocks away from Tropicana on Calle Pulpito. Very elegant in a garden courtyard setting, and the prices are as you describe Amapas Sunset.

Apache is a great sidewalk bar about 4 blocks away. A very fun lesbian couple own it and it's an easy place to make new friends.
