Even though Walker says the state is broke and public employees are overpaid, Deschane already has earned a promotion and a 26% pay raise in just two months with the state.

His father is Jerry Deschane, executive vice president and longtime lobbyist for the Madison-based Wisconsin Builders Association, which bet big on Walker during last year's governor's race.

AH.............THE GOP. If their not cheating on their wife or practicing their wide stance in the men's bathrooms or passing anti gay legislation....
You can ALWAYS count on them doing the opposite of what they campaigned on.

Well now you'll be hearing that "they all do it", and yes to a degree that's true, but there is no group like the hypocritical repubs for standing behind religion to get the vote, using religion to cover the bullshit they do behind closed doors.

Always follow the money !! Apparently Walker had a debt to pay and junior Jerry is reaping the rewards. Doesn't this remind you of the barely 20+ girl Bush put in a very important position over in Iraq? there were debts owed there too.

I agree with you here - based on the facts so far, they appear damning. That being said, I have to ask - as I imagine you'd be the first to also agree this is a game that politicians play to curry favor with special interests - through regulation, tax breaks, outright spending like earmarks and pork barreling, isn't the best solution to shrink government? Taking cuts whereever possible after defining what the role of government is and should be?

$81,5K for an attorney is not unusual compensation, no?

The circumstances behind it are not good at all though.

Definitely is fodder for a recall bid against Gov. Walker when that window comes up.

How funny: almost as if on queue, southbeach has taken up the debate EXACTLY as reallifedad suggested it would be taken up.

Of course comparing these cases, I suspect Lewinski had more education, was paid less, and likely lacked the DUI's and money connections that Brian Deschane apparently has.

All I can say is Clinton was an equal opportunity employer...or is he?icon_lol.gif

That's yet another disadvantage working against the state civil service--it's at the whim of governors, and where are all the qualifications that you need (like the US Civil Service)?

I just hope the people of Wisconsin realize the type of person Scott Walker is before it's too late.

It sounds like 6 Republican senators out of the 8 facing recall will be in immediate danger.

Use this BS to recall Scott Walker next year!

If the people of Wisconsin needed anymore reason to suspect that Scott Walker is incapable of practicing what he preaches, this appointment ought to be the thing that does it.

Time for the Democrats to be cut throat: destroy this Deschane family in the press this year, and then destroy Scott Walker next year through a humiliating recall effort!

Civil service jobs aren't meant to be dished out to the hopeless children of wealthy benefactors...even southbeach should be willing to agree with that!

You guys who act as if this sort of thing is unique to the GOP, and that the Dems aren't guilty of the same or equally as shameful behavior is laughable. There are bad seeds in both parties. In fact, probably more bad than good.

where is the "Recall Walker" petitions??

Ah, the "they ALL do it" defense. Which of course never applies when a Democrat does it, Democrats always being guilty and liable to full prosecution according to Republicans.

Well, Walker did it, and it's shameful. An unqualified, HS grad 20-something getting an $80+k job because his father is an influential lobbyist. While 2 certified, trained teachers could be hired for the same amount. At a time when the Governor is threatening to fire teachers, has busted their union and wants to reduce their salaries. The Governor can waste an $80k salary as a political pay-off? Where's the fiscal concern he claims is his sole motivation?

Detours about Monica Lewinsky's dress are laughable. We are talking about pure corruption, pay for play. Bill Clinton's sexual indiscretions over a dozen years ago are hardly relevant to this. But nice try to divert the topic, initially by SB as usual.

BUT THIS BAD SEED IS DOING RIGHT....IN.....THE..MIDDLE...OF...THE "SO CALLED" BUDGET CRISIS?

I'd call this "DOING A "GINGRICH"
While Gingrich was cheating on his WIVES, he was slamming Clinton.

As Walker is "Doing the Gingrich" he's slamming the Budget.

    OOPS! I got caught! (walker)

Wis. gov reverses appointment Dems called cronyism

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin's Republican Gov. Scott Walker has reversed the promotion of a 27-year-old son of a lobbyist whose appointment to an $81,500 administration job sparked cronyism claims by Democrats.
