I have a friend who use to be extremely skinny when we were younger. He really wasn't too popular when we were in high school, but I still felt he was a great guy with a heart of gold. A couple of years ago he started working out and finally got the body he always wanted, but along with the muscles came an Ego the size of Texas. He's rude, arrogant, pretentious and self -absorbed,and I feel like he's trying to make up for his high school years. I have talked to him about this and he only gets defensive, but now it's to the point where I no longer want to be around him, I really can't stomach the way he treats people. Do you think it's possible to salvage the friendship or is it a lost cause?

Yep, I have a friend who used to be that way.
He finally dropped the ego after being "built" for about 12 years.
