How many of you guys have your own business or have one on the side? I work as an Apparel Designer for an international firm but....

On April 9th as part of the SAARC exhibition venue, I'll be proud to present my debut collection of woven handbags and clutches for women.
What I'm truly am excited is that I'll be showing bags which are woven from plastic packaging wrappers and other discarded plastic material.

    i.e:
    Bread Bags= Clutches
    Detergent Bags= Handbags

From waste to Eco Chic, I've hand woven them (yes I can weave thread together!) into stylish products.

After this I'll be taking down orders and begin a new production cycle. Eventually I'll be diversifying ,my range but this my first solo attempt in getting into the market.

It took me about a year and Prince of Arya knows how much effort and creativity I've been putting into this.

InshAllah I hope to succeed and prosper.

I'll post up a sample image of what my product image looks like on my profile.

I'm very excited and nervous at the same time!!

Congratulations and best of luck!! I weave, but am not into the whole marketing thing--but that will have to come, or I'll end up broke with a lot of woven items. lol. Seriously, all the best in this undertaking. Hope it takes off for you.

    That sounds very intuitive!

Now all you need to do is weave a padded/drop-proof camera bag that'll hold my camcorder, cameras, lenses, and spare batteries and memory cards...and also have a place for cold drinks and sandwiches. Then I'll be one of your newest customers. icon_biggrin.gif

Hey, awesome for you! Glad you to hear you are making it .. on your own and achieving success.

Yes, I run my own business firm.. the self employed have pro's and cons to deal with on a regular basis... but achieving successes with the work put forth has to be at the top. Best wishes and keep it coming!

Best of luck to you and yours my friend. I started my own electrical business March 1st, 2005 and it's still going strong.I agree with HndsmKansan about the pros and cons, but it's well worth it. icon_wink.gif

    Thank you icon_smile.gif

I sat with my friend over my excel file to discuss average gross profits from low mid and high

Mid is the obvious choice but of course there will be some variances in prices.

Plus she helped me calculate percentage profits based on the number of bags I sell.

I really hope people buy.... I need their money!! icon_twisted.gif

Are the old plastic bags woven in their original form, or is the basic material recycled into another state before being made into handbags? I guess you have a method for cleaning & sanitizing the plastic bags?

Do you have any pics of your products?

Congrats and good luck with your venture.

I started my own business over 10 years ago, sold it last year and am now doing it again. Can't imagine ever working for the "man" again! Follow your dreams.

Yes I can send you and attachment.

You see all the discarded wrappers are washed and sanitized before I convert them.
Then using an handloom I weave them together.

One pic is on my profile. The other I will email via attachment. icon_smile.gif

    Congrats and good luck!
I'm jealous of people who have a passion for what they do, but not in a mean greedy way, more of a...i wish i had a calling...kinda way!

Either way, hope it works out and is a HUGE success!

Great job - the pictures make all the difference. Words do not do these justice...
They always say you get more responses when you post pictures...and that holds true for more than just naked body shots

WOW! Those bags are amazing! Congrats on your new venture. You will do well. I have worked for myself in the past and am getting ready to do it again by summer time. The pros definitely outweigh the cons and I am always encouraging others who have the passion to do the same.
