Takedown saidcollegestud: How can you not like this song? The lyrics are amazing! You can tell how talented an artist is if they can sing just with a piano. For me, great music is not only about the beat but it encompass good lyrics, and a good voice, but every one has their own opinion
There is a difference between music and poetry. The two are commonly referred to as one because they often work in tandem in certain forms of art. However, they are not the same.
Music refers to particular sound arrangements that produce a melody. It can be manifested through audition--enabling capture by our sensory auditory system--or manifested in written form. The written form of music refers to music composition (i.e., sheet music, a score), which also contains information to enable auditory communication.
The lyrics of a song are related to poetry and prose. "Songwriting" as it is colloquially referred to in our times, has little to do with music making. I can appreciate poetry in a song, but the only appropriate way of judging musical content is through audition.
Anyway, despite the lyrics and Adele's voice, I don't like the song. I believe that answers your question.
