Hey guys I'm almost positively moving to Manchester (U.K. not New Hampshire) in August to do my post graduate study. Do you guys have any tips for living there like places to eat, avoid, etc. I'd especially be interested in finding out about gyms in the city from guys who live there because I will want to join one as soon as possible after moving there. Also, I'd like to meet people before heading over if I can.

    Thanks guys

OK, just e-mailed a gay friend of ours who's from Manchester, UK, who has a store right here in Fort Lauderdale ("Pond Hoppers"). I've met his "Mum" too, who still lives in Manchester, and comes here for visits.

I can't promise he'll reply to you (I gave him your RJ addy), but I'm due to drop by there soon to buy some Brit tea and stuff, and I'll follow up. Ask for Rob, mention Bob!

Thanks guys! I will be arriving probably mid to late August I'm not sure yet (depends on if I get my Italian passport in time and if not it will depend on my student visa)

Hey, Manchester is quite a happening city although it has a high crime rate . So watch yourself and you'll be ok...

Not connected with Manchester at all, but there is an organisation called They organise a lot of good outdoor activities for gay men - including hillwalking, indoor rock climbing, kayaking etc. Good if you fancy meeting some fellow gayers! They'll have a branch in Manchester.

I love manchester, its a great city with a great nightlife. I'm not big into the gay scene but manchester has a really good gay village around canal street.
also it is is very cheap in comparison to southern english cities.
