Whether it's Katy Perry or Rhianna or Lady Gaga. Why do so many guys( gay or straight) pat themselves on the back for not liking female artists?

I don't think it has to do with being female, but rather female pop star who has a huge following of teenage girls and is trendy.

As an example, look at the women of country music or jazz. They are just as well respected and liked as the men.

It's mostly a generational thing and modern day society's obsession with labeling everything as "this" or "that", whether it is related to one's orientation or not.

I can't stand those artists you named, however that's nothing to do with sexuality, it's all about my taste in music.

I am a big fan of Fiona Apple, Bertie Blackman, Sarah Blasko, Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, etc, etc ...

ie, quality indie artists as opposed to mainstream pop artists.

They're misogynists. If a woman does it, it can't be as good as when a man does it.

I prefer the sound of female voices to male voices, but I love singers like Karen O, Emily Haines, ACO, Fiona Apple, Marina Diamandis, Fever Ray, Björk, etc.

aka females who don't use autotune.

I think it's just the music that the majority of gays like, and it's not just female artists, you can throw justin bieber in there as well.

Well I dont think its gay to listen to female artist, but the singers you name just have a huge gay following and is overplayed by gay clubs and etc. So maybe thats why people think they are gay. Anyways, I think the ones you named suck ass and are autotuned to deaf! Also, most pop female singer are usually associated with being gay since gay people tend to gravitate to them more or something... I dont know.

    lol, they're being foolish.
A female singer or a male singer, it's what they sing about.
Content. And how they sing about it.

Here's one I love by guys:

    and one by a gal:

I love female singers, just not any that that you named. There are female singers out there I find so much more interesting.

Hard to top a voice like Elizabeth Fraser's-

I've noticed, female country singers are very well respected in that genre. I once heard Reba saying how the music business used to be SO different earlier in her days and how she had to fight for her right to take her decisions.

Ya why do gay guys like men but then idolize women? doesn't make sense to me. i don't like most of the shit that 13 year old girls like. why does the average gay guy love it? miley cyrus and christine aguilera. its all pretty much CRAP!

Christina Aguilera has a very talented voice. It's very outstanding. I don't think her talent is crap. Maybe sometimes every now and then not good songs but her talent is not crap my friend.

But yes, there is a lot of marketing created singers nowadays, product of producers and autotune ....

REBECA BLACK or whatever her name is written ..... THAT is crap

I don't like their music, in fact, I think they all suck. Artist such as Annie Lennox, Madonna, Bjork, Lisa Gerard ( Dead Can Dance ), Sinead O'Conor, Loreena McKennit, Sade - to name just a few - are the ones who deserve total respect. I bet that in 5 years from now nobody will know about B.Spears, K. Perry and alike, nor will anybody remember their little "hits".
