Do you know what hookup sites have only real members and which ones have fake profiles to get you to join?

Any hookup site will have a lot of fake profiles and depending on where you live there may be a proliferation of them.

If you are in a generally more conservative area people will create fake profiles to see who else is around but not actually come out to ANYONE because they are too beyond terrified of the repercussions. I find this happens slightly less in more liberal areas.

So yeah being from a conservative area there was a time when I did exactly that ( * hangs head in shame * ).

I find the best way to combat it is to become very good at filtering out the fakes. Normally if its too good to be true it is.

Some sites let you verify your identity, and make the results public.

I think what the OP was talking about is like some of the advertisements that I have seen here on RJ. However, they usually state that the models used in their advertisements are not actual members of the site. icon_wink.gif

I agree. I've seen some ads emailed to me or on yahoo that indicate that so and so from my city just looked at my profile. Problem was, I didn't belong to the site...epic fail!

I say if you check it out and it doesn't include a verification process, then anything you see or read is suspect.

Basically, any social networking / hookup site will have a lot of fake profiles. I admire the websites that allow members to verify their identity. After all, everybody either has a webcam, camera, or camera phone so there really is no excuse. icon_confused.gif
