I bolded the ones I felt most important. The link expands upon the double standards so clicky poo links above ok?

Women Can Openly Own Sex Toys

Women Can Wear Men's Clothes To Work

Women Have Multiple, Viable, Birth Control Options

Women Can Openly Experiment With Homosexuality

Women Can Touch Each Other Openly, Men Can't

    Women Can Dance Together

Women Can Call Each Other Attractive

Women Can Make Sweeping Denouncements of Men

    Women Can Wear Makeup

Women Can Choose To Have Abortions

"Let's face it. When people talk about homosexuality being unnatural and an abomination, they're not talking about the women. No, no, they're talking about the men. Nobody seems to find anything so abominable about Britney Spears tonguing Madonna. Or Gina Gershon in bed with Jennifer Tilly... No, in America, when a man puts something in another man, it had better be a bullet."

They are alright because a bunch of piggish straight men have made it clear that they alright.

I LOVE that quote by Bill Maher because it's so true!

My favorite double standard involves marriage and the political religious far-right. They disdain GLBT individuals who want the government mandated benefits of marriage but straight couples marrying for money, a green card, or because they were drunk is alright and upholds this sacred institution? icon_rolleyes.gif

A lot of those things women can do only as longs as it's for the purpose of titillating straight men. Real lesbians (who touch, dance and are attracted to women) face as much persecution as gay men, sometimes worse. "Corrective" rape anyone?

Women Can Wear Men's Clothes To Work.

No, women can wear trousers and suits to work as long as they're cut in a feminine fashion. If they'd be wearing actual men's clothes they'd be considered just as weird as a man coming to work in a dress.

Women Have Multiple, Viable, Birth Control Options

True, but to be fair, condoms are the easiest and least potentially harmful.

If you add to that the prevalence of rape, domestic abuse and unpaid labour that is the reality of women all over the world, I'm feeling quite lucky being born with a cock, thanks. So quit yer whining icon_razz.gif

The legal institution is not a religious institution. Homosexuals are not asking to be married or to be required to marry into the religious institution. Maybe the Government should start issuing Civil/Domestic Partnerships and remove marriage from Legal Jargon altogether. People seem to think they should use Utilitarianism to protect their "beliefs" but not those of others. That's a double standard.

How awesome would it be if drunk guys could make out just like drunk girls can and it would be ok??

When me and my lesbian friend were both in the closet, I would tell her how much I envy her because if she had a crush on a girl, she could make out with her and she would. If I had a crush on a guy I would just sit in a corner and frown icon_sad.gif

Male and Female bodies are shaped differently. I see no problem in cutting a dress so it fits a male torso.

I've heard just as many women come out and openly say "I like to stick plastic things in my vagina. You should try this one out!" as men.

Women can wear unisex clothing to work without being looked at differently. If a woman were to come in wearing a suit and tie, I'd imagine people would think the same of them as if a guy came in wearing stretch pants or a skirt. I've never seen a woman that I work with wear a dress to work. But if you're upset that you can't wear a dress without being embarrassed about it, that's your own personal conflict.

As do men. There are spermicides, condoms, vasectomies... Women are more at risk of catching pregnancy than men. If a man wants to ingest something to decrease the chances of pregnancy, smoke pot. It'll at least drop your sperm count. But seriously, a reversible out-patient procedure is not that big of a deal.

Women Can Openly Experiment With Homosexuality

A lot of women feel the same way when they see two women kiss as a lot of guys do seeing two guys kiss.

    DodgedBullet said
Women Can Touch Each Other Openly, Men Can't

A lot of men shake hands, hug, give pats on the back or arm, fist-bump, and find other ways of non-sexual contact to give each other as a greeting or sign of appreciation of company.

There was a glitch in the Matrix and my original post had some problems. I fixed them now. The bolded fallacious statements I feel are the ones most imposed by the Media, then broader society accepts these things as unbridled truth.

In my experience it's been quite the contrary. I've heard many Heterosexual women say they would prefer watching women make out or have sex than two men and usually say "two men together is revolting."

A real life experience was when my Lesbian friend asked some of her self proclaimed "bleeding heart Liberal" female friends the following:

Would they date a Bisexual male? They replied: "Yuccckk No! There is no such thing as a Bisexual Male, he's Gay and just hasn't figured it out yet and two guys butt fucking makes me want to puke in my mouth"

Unfortunately, that is not the first time I've heard such a thing. Especially amongst Bisexual women, whom you would think would be open to dating a Male Bisexual, but because he's had sex with a Male he is perceived as "tainted" and "untouchable", and therefore u
    ndateable.

Men can take group showers together, and be openly naked in the locker room. icon_biggrin.gif (In the US, women's showers & locker rooms are mostly partitioned or curtained into individual privacy areas)

Men can earn huge salaries from playing in sports, while women rarely can look forward to such wealthy sports careers

Men aren't virtually FORCED to wear makeup in many professional & social settings

Men can go topless at the beach & public pools, while women can't in most of the US

Men aren't expected to keep their legs and underarms shaved

Men's swimsuits don't require shaving or waxing in that area, either

Men's clothing tends to stay in fashion longer than women's, and is generally sturdier, too, saving money & effort by requiring replacement less often

Men aren't expected to accessorize with a lot of different jewelry, handbags, shoes and other items

Interesting. I've watched gay porn with a few female friends that thought it was hot. When watching True Blood with my last roommate, she thought the scene where Bill and Sam started kissing was undoubtedly hot. When dancing with other men at straight bars, I've had more women come up to us and say "you two are fucking hot" or something of the sort than "gross, that's revolting." There are a lot of women that come into gay bars, apparently not finding it revolting. I've had women ask if they could watch me have sex with my last boyfriend.

I'm glad I've experienced the opposite of what you describe.

Pharmaceutical companies DID create multiple viable birth control options for men, however psychology and the risk killed most of them.

Imagine a daily pill that a man could take, like the birth control pill, to stop his body from making sperm. It sounds like a great idea, but now take it from the viewpoint of a woman: a guy tell you he's on the pill, so you don't need to worry about condoms (straight people mostly used condoms for birth control, not to avoid STDs). Do you trust him and go condom free, knowing that if he's lying you're the one who's body and life will be permanently changed?
Nope, women aren't dumb enough to take that risk.

The whole macho idea of a man, his penis and performance also made the male birth control pill a bad sell. Guys just didn't want to "threaten their masculinity" by taking the pill.

I know in my country lesbians have never had the struggle for acceptance us guys have. Just for starters
It was never illegal to be a lesbian, as they can not have penetrating sex the same way two guys can.

Also for many of the reasion the OP has pointed out.

When they talk about homosexuality to children, in schools they always use two mummy's and never two daddies.

Us real gays have had the fight and struggle for acceptance, in a way the girls never have. Yet now they want to lead the way in our paradise with Dyke's on Bikes.

Women scream like wet cats at the unjust treatment they receive in mate dominated work force. But there is no such noise when it come to men receiving gender equality in a female dominated work force; no it is OK to abuse men, be sexist to them, even gang up on them.

Men can as well, just not in the Westernized world. A man holding hands with another man isn't perceived as "Homosexual" in places like India, the Middle East, parts of Southeast Asia, and Africa.

Buddhist Monks hold hands all the time. It's just affection, nothing sexual.

Although, I do not watch True Blood nor am I a fan I am cognizant if what goes on the program due to forums, particularly IMDB when TB's brief Homosexual scenes aired on TV there were various people on the Forums who proclaimed how turned off and disgusted they are by the shows decline, by including male on male scenes, even though there have been plenty female on female scenes. Many accused Alan Ball of having and ulterior motive, ultimately accusing him of promoting "a Homosexual Agenda" and trying to change aspects of the book to suit his favor. There are never any complaints like this when Lesbianism is aired on TV.

On of the guys I'm subscribed to BillyBlackAttacks posted about TB Male on Male Kiss Scene in the video, towards the end note how he says his female friends would rather see 2 women over 2 men

Women Can Wear Men's Clothes To Work

    Men can wear djellabas/kaftans icon_smile.gif

Women Can Touch Each Other Openly, Men Can't

Men walk around holding each others' hands or hugging etc. etc.

    Men dance together

Women Can Call Each Other Attractive

Men call one another attractive all the time

    Women Can Wear Makeup

Men can wear Khol (eye liner-ish) but that's because of protection from sun and sand or something like that

    on the note of affection
If you get out of this country you will see that Men hold hands, greet each other with kisses ect. Our fight to not be puritans has made this country even more puritanical.
I will greet another gay guy with a kiss. I'm not scare and I'm not ashamed. If you don't want it to be a double standard don't let it be
As long as we hide behind our forums and posts nothing will change.
I dare any mealy mouthed straight say anything to some of these 6'3 300lb muscle monsters about greeting a guy with a hug and a kiss.

Yep I've traveled to the Middle East and noticed the stark difference. I also love that Men can Belly Dance there and it isn't perceived as something as a threat to manhood, just an intrinsic part of their culture.

Funny if two men were doing any of that stuff anywhere in the Western World (primarily The US and Europe) they would be accused of shoving Homosexuality down the collective's throats, but when two women due it they are given praise. I'm tired of the hypocrisy.
