OK, so already had a family member fall over from disbelief when I talked to them about this earlier in the evening.....

Do you have music you absolutely blew off as a kid, but now have given it a chance (or at least have taken the time to learn something about the artists and the music itself) even if you don't like it? Do you have more appreciation for it now?

For me it is the Carpenters.. RIchard & Karen Carpenter. My mother liked them and I can remember them when I was a little kid... so sad about Karen and her death in 1983.

Some of their music is a little ewww, so "Mom" like, but I'm getting an appreciation.... lol. Maybe not so ewwww.

I thought the 2nd word in the thread title was MUSICIANS.
Oh well, it's still fun to rethink about them. icon_biggrin.gif

I definitely did this. When I was a kid I would hate all the music my mom would listen to in the car and bitch every time she put it on. Little did I know that she has great taste in music. She would be listening to Queen, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles, etc. Now I am a fan of all of them and we can listen to all the same music.

I pretty much listened to all types of music when I was growing up. But I still haven't developed a liking for classical music, opera, and jazz. Maybe someday. icon_lol.gif

Simple: Two words: Duran Duran, although technically it is really only one word repeated in tandem, but I digress.

Cat Stevens and Neil Young. When I was a kid I hated them both and thought they were really boring. Now they're both in my top 10 of all time.

I always knew good music!!!! Santana, Gyspy Kings, Elton John, Nat King Cole, just a few a mine and my dads favourites. I was brought up on good music and appreciated it from a young age. Now I educate my dad on the newer artists.

I used to not listen to bands that had rough (growled, screamed, barked, etc.) vocals.

Now, a good deal of what I listen to has prominent rough vocals.
