To juice or not to juice that is the question.

The subsject of steroids came up in my gym again today. The guys that are juicing are looking great and certainly making gains I couldn't match, however I have never been tempted. Am I being a pussy, sensible or should I take the plunge?

The question surely, is how big do you want to get? Can you get that big without using steriods? Why do you want to get bigger than you already are? You look pretty good at the moment. But that's just my opinion.

In the hot house of the gay gym you can sometimes loose track of reality and the way you look to most people.

While you may grow impressive muscles, there are both long term and short term consequences and side effects of taking steroids. Make sure you know what those are and are willing to take the risks associated with taking them before you do.
Personally I don't think the risks outway the benefits.

MY choice never to juice- who wants thick organs, zit back roid gut, tumor formation on the organs, smaller balls and heart problems early on? You have a great bod and you can make gains naturally, there r plenty of guys on here alot bigger than me who never juiced!! My gym is loaded with roid boys and my satisfaction comes more from the way I feel more than how I look, plus for 5'11 174 pounds 30 waist 42c I can out bench, curl and squat more that most of those guys for my body weight! Be you! Ciao Mike

What I always do when I'm facing a yes or no question is make two lists. It's dorky but it usually clears things up in a jiffy.

List A: This should include the benefits such as increased muscle gain, increased self-satisfaction, potential romances?, etc...

List B: This should include the drawbacks, which would be cost, legality, and health benefits like severe acne, jaundice, cardiovascular or heart disease, stunted growth, psychological effects (increased aggresiveness, mood swings, sleeping disorders), testicular atrophy (shrinkage), erectile dysfunction, impotence, etc

Then you look at which list seems more appealing. Or you can cross out things on the drawbacks list that you wouldn't like to have and cross off things on the benefits list that you can do without because of drawbacks.

Also, look at the benefits and check to see if they can be acheived elsewhere. I'm guessing they could. Check the drawbacks for items that are unbearable...and I'm guessing you'll find alot.

I don't care how much muscle I have or don't have. I'm just glad my penis works and I am mentally stable.

But if the benefits are all too appealing, start using juice like you've got scurvy.

Thanks for the swift replies guys. You're views are more or less the same as mine. I've sort of hit a plateau with my growth and do want to get bigger but I guess I'll just have to lift heavier and eat more. I'm a complete wuss when it comes to needles too so it would never be a good path for me.

    Alistair

    Have you tried Creatine?

Redhead's a mate of mine, and since he started taking it, he's made noticable gains.

You aren't being a pussy, you're being completely sensible. Sure those guys may look good, but is it worth the side effects? Since their gains are so big and quick, the tendons, joints and ligaments are not able to keep up with the development of the muscle tissue, and that leads to all types of injuries.

Then comes the worst thing, and I can't remember the medical terminology of it: bitch tits. Ewwwww....

Yep, the gyno alone is enough to keep me away. If you don't believe that shit happens, just go and look in the member photos section of steroids.com forums. Or even bodybuilding.com to some extent. You see so many guys asking questions about it and freaking out because they start developing tender lumps under one or both nips. It looks completely gross and is very noticeable... and many guys have to get expensive and very painful surgery to get the lumps(glandular tissue) removed. It's not just fat.

To be fair, I should note that there are ways(more drugs) to avoid all that, but a lot of guys eff it up apparently.

The latest speculation on the pro wrestler, Benoit, is that the steroids (prescription, mind you) found in his home may have been directly or in association with, his motivations for annihilating his family.

You look like you're making pretty good progress. Maybe you might want to consider doing a cycle in your mid to late thirties as testosterone starts tapering off.

I have never done steroids and had no problem gaining mass. Leaning down, now that's another story. :-)

It is easy to get on here and judge the people who do steroids. I used to be one of those judgemental people. But lately I have changed my outlook. If someone is going to go on the juice they're going to do it whether we support it or not. IF they're so determined to go on the juice then what should be done is to help them find the right stuff so that they do not hose their entire system. It is all this shame, and criminal aspect of steroids that makes them so dangerous. The illegality and shame makes people do crazy things, use crazy substances and use them the wrong way.

Eventually the decision is yours. Whatever you do, if you choose to opt for steroids then find someone very experienced, preferably a doctor who is experienced in supervising athletes during cycles and do your cycle under their supervision. If you're going to do it, do it safe. Don't go injecting yourself god knows what from some crazy pharm company in Mexico.
