Anyone else watching 1 Girl, 5 Gays?
A group of friends and I get together on Sunday and watch Fringe (or starting in a week A Game of Thrones W00T!), then afterwards watch an episode of 1G5G, and share our answers. It's a lot of fun and a neat way to get to know each other better.

Let's get to know each other better.
1 question, first five people to respond reply to that question, and the fifth person proposes a new question.

    First question?

What are you most ashamed of?

I'm most ashamed of being in my thirties and not having graduated college. I have no excuse not to, I actually *love* school, I just haven't put my time and energy into that goal.

I can't think of anything to be ashamed of. Mistakes are part of the learning process. icon_wink.gif

PS. I started college at age 31.

I shame is unavoidable, but the process of forgiving yourself lessens it, or ends it completely.

PS. I just need to quiet the wanderlust and focus.

It's a great thing for you to be doing. It's interesting you are shamed by it.

    Something I'm ashamed of....

That I used to bottle my emotions. I would ignore it play video games and eat M&Ms. I wasted WAY too much time! So now I still have a little mental hurdle to say what I want, but LIFE is much better.

I am confused... do I answer the question or do I pose a new question?

Answer: To be honest, I am so ashamed of something that I am too ashamed to even post it here. And this is the first time I have ever admitted it. But I am a big tough, strong athlete with a very masculine life and persona... but I lisp. I am ashamed of my lisp.

New Question: Name something that makes you reallly proud of being gay?

I am really proud that I can do whatever I want. I love cars and I love the outdoors and dogs and sports... AND I love cooking and I love musical theater. I can enjoy all of it and be totally me without worrying "Is this too gay?"

    Care to elaborate on why?

Well what I want to do is be in entertainment, broadway specifically.

Thing is up until recently I had the mentality to stick with what you're good at, so now I'm in university doing my bachelor of graphic design to land a job in the advertising industry.
And I cant just up and quit because my parents have been saving since I was born to send me and my sister ( started uni one year before me) and made alot of sacrifices to get me there.

Also there's limited resources for training and things of the like where I live. On average a 3 hour singing workshop is 150 bucks and that's my weekly budget right now... And that only covers one session.

So ive got the idea right now to get a casual job to earn a couple hundred to finance classes and a coach for a bit. But I've also got to balance that out with 35 hours a week at uni and ATLEAST 10 hours a week of work at home... (there is a SHITLOAD of work to do...)

Plus I've been contemplating coming out to my friends but I really don't think I can fit any more stress of excitement into my life right now...

Ooops I've rambled... Your fault for asking for an elaboration though icon_razz.gif

I like that you mentioned this, because I mentioned having a lisp (reference the video thread if you want an example of it) as something I felt ppl judged me on instantly, and my friends were all kinda surprised it was such a big deal to me. Most of them dont even notice after a few days hanging out.
    odd huh?

And proudwise...Im really proud of my friends, and while I know they would be my friends even if I was straight (part of why I love them), I know I woudln't have met them if I wasn't. It's an odd group, but amazing dynamic.

    So so true!

And you don't need to focus. Going to college because you feel pressured to is stupid, and will land you with the skills you need to realize that you made an expensive mistake.

When I went to college, it was because I'd already chosen a career path, and needed "some" college to make it work (didn't finish college 'cause I didn't need to). My advice is to stop being ashamed, figure out what hobby interests you the most, and make a career out of it. icon_wink.gif

I couldn't agree with Paul more. I went to college right out of high school because I just thought it's what was expected of me. While I may not have found the right path yet it's good for now. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made going back..

I don't really know if I'm personally proud, but I'm proud of what gay people do for equal rights and liberty. Maybe if I got involved in more stuff like that, I'd feel more connection to pride.
