I have the adjustable dumbbells and love them. They cost less over buying all the different weights I need and take up a lot less space. I got mine at kmart other then a workout store. Way cheaper and do the job. I'm also not big on getting a name on it since after reviews the big named companys have poor reviews.

I have the Bowflex select tech dumbells at my apartment. I have both sets (5-52.5 and 10-90) and a bench. They don't take up very much room and work well. They are much cheaper than buying each weight individually.

I think the "shake weights" might pose an overall risk factor with injury. I took one in my hands and started shaking the hell out of them. While I didn't use them that long, I did feel that if I used them as suggested that the weights would cause soreness and possible injury to the tendons in my elbow adn wrist....

    Are neoprene products gay friendly?

No they are not..i am very curious to know how you came to this conclusion!

BigGaymacho... Do you know the history of Neoprene???
If i were you ..i would return the ones you got at Walmart..i know you bought them in july..but what a mistake !!
..Everyone in the gay world lives by the saying "Say No To Neoprene"
..I am surprised that a high tech guy like yourself ended up with Neoprene!!
..By the way next time you decide to make such a "Risqué" purchase..you MUST inquire at the time of purchase if the products are "Gay Friendly"
...Ask for a manager and ask right up front..This is what We do..hello!!

..What is so wrong with looking your sales person in the eye and saying
"I need you to find out if this product is Gay Friendly???"...If he/she does not know..MAKE them get a manager...(hello!!)

..Now with that out of the way..please tell me you are not the type to buy "Hanes" "tighty whiteys"..Because if you do Mr macho.. you would be doing the gay community a great disservice !!
    Thank you!

If you're trying to lose weight with free weights, you haven't read enough about fitness.

The only way to lose weight is caloric deficit. You have to burn more calories than you consume. Your diet is more than 75% responsible for weight gain/loss. The other 25% (to lose weight) is cardio to help you burn more calories.

From what I've learned with my body, the ONLY way to lose weight is cardio exercises, and to keep the weight off, I would say diet like the poster above. Free weights only make me gain muscles mass, has never helped me with weight. I used to run a little bit, but I have time issues where I prefer to swim laps in the pool, and what a few weeks of constantly swimming do to your body is amazing.
