Just curious...sometimes it seems like I'm one of the few who really likes listening to this kind of music on a daily basis...at least in the part of the country that I'm in.

What type of music are you into?

I will honestly give anything someone puts out a solid listen. If someone has the courage to release something the best I can do is give it a chance. However if it feels disingenuous in someway aka Creed, Kid Rock, Britney Spears...etc then I wont listen to it.

I tend to gravitate towards British music: Muse, The Libertines, Arctic Monekys, Lily Allen, Florence + The Machine, Mumford & Sons, older stuff like Pulp, The Smiths, Suede.

I listen to music from other countries too but mostly British for some reason.

went to one of the godspeed you! black emperor reunion shows a few weeks back... it was kind of bad actually, same songs, same visuals, but this time in a huge venue sort of killing the intimacy of back in the day. i guess i'm in a different place now then i was when i was into them though. held those tickets for six months!

growing up luckily i had a good local alt/modern rock station so had a good healthy appreciation of groups like the pumpkins, afghan whigs, better than ezra, hole, etc - got into indie/punk/hardcore/metalcore/emocore/grind in high school - saetia, majority rule, orchid, you + i, the get up kids, at the drive-in, the assistant, q + not u, envy, etc.

in college started gay clubbing, got a good vocal / tribal house background, then started doing raves and realized that vocal/tribal/progressive house pretty much suck and learned the joy of breakbeats and chicago house. derrick carter, dj sneak, jason hodges, heather, that lot.

had a lot of spanish friends so ended up at those spots a lot, took up latin dancing and stuck with it, so now i listen to a lot of salsa, bachata, merengue, cumbia, pasito durango

and of course there's the current "edm of the future", tropical bass, uk funky, garage and whatnot.

out of all of that i just don't listen to hardcore much anymore, there aren't much good shows around. and i got really tired of indie rock and that twee aesthetic, i don't bother anymore.

i mixed this set, starts out mostly latin and gets into edm

I listen mostly to punk, metal, alt rock, and the occasional grindcore band.

A few of my favorite bands would be Bad Religion, the Distillers, Guano Apes (except their newest album which was a pile of crap), In Flames, and the list could go on.

Totally depends what im doing! If im cooking, I like 50's music. Frank Sinatra, Glen Miller, etc. If Im drinking, Chillout A.K.A. Downtempo Electronica : Gotan Project, Thievery Corporation. If im working out or dancing, anything electronic, pop remixes if they arent cheesy. Any song that gets ripped up, has its ass kicked and spit out into something better.
