Just came out to my dad; a former church deacon, republican, and christian...

and you know what he said...

He loves me no matter what. And that I was born this way (i wanted to tell him that, that is a Lady Gaga song, but he wouldn't have gotten it) and that Im the son he always dreamed of having and that he is proud of me. icon_biggrin.gif

Of all the people in my life, my dad was the one I was the most scared of to tell because of what his reaction was going to be. My dad is pretty heavily involved in with our church so I was expecting him to pull some "your going to hell" bit on me, but it was the total opposite.

    Wow what a day...

This calls for a round of drinks and a shower of confetti. You're fortunate dude, and lucky to have a superb dad like yours! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks! a drink sounds good right now icon_smile.gif

Its crazy reading or hearing about others coming out stories, and how some of them turned in horror stories. One of my best guy friends, when he came out had the hardest time with his mom accepting, that was two years ago, and things still arn't the same. I know I am fortunate, I just wish I could share the fortune with others ya know.

Congratulations! That's an awesome story. I wish there were more like that. Perhaps living on the west coast helps some. It sure says a lot about your dad and his priorities....it's great news icon_smile.gif

Very happy for you man!!! My pops (ya I'm Canadian and I call him that lol) and I were on the phone talking about the same thing last night. I love my father and his acceptance of me has been something dreams are made of. I know the feeling bro. All the best and more to you. icon_biggrin.gif

When I read the title of your thread, I had a preconceived notion that things wouldn't turn out well.

After reading the outcome, I'm so happy for you and your dad. With everything out in the open, you have the potential to develop an even stronger father/son bond and relationship. That's priceless.
