I've been bothered by this for a while now and just thought I would share an article on the topic. I can't imagine that people potentially will be put to death for innocently being who they are, it reminds me of Nazi Germany.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

It reminds me of Nazi Germany, too.
The holocaust apparently isn't over...it's just "in the closet."

It's a scary situation, there is already a stigma around homosexuality there and this just adds fuel to the fire. I had a friend who is also gay working in Uganda when this was introduced. He said it was so discouraging to see a nation which usually doesn't band together come together over this bill.

It's also scary and appalling to me that there are Americans helping and supporting this bill, which to me means that if they could they would have the same bill in the states.

I understand why a regular Ugandan may not understand homosexuality because it's not talked about, discussed and there really is no viable open information about it, but for any American or "westerner" to still think its a choice is just getting old and tiresome.

Nothing could ever justify the sort of frightening hatred that is being fanned up in Uganda... but one thing that comes to mind is that Uganda is such a fundamentally fucked up country that the only thing that brings it's disparate peoples together is killing off the gays.

all of uganda could do what they will but this would never come to be law. Uganda would stop getting money from the us and europe. i think they care more about that than killing gays.
