For me all it takes is a fresh cup of earl grey and the presence of friends. Then I feel set for life icon_biggrin.gif

bumper-sticker wisdom, but I like it anyway:

The best things in life aren't things

    "Things" that make me happy:
    - holding hands with my boyfriend while we have meal together (works because I'm a lefty)
    - snuggling a few minutes with him every morning before getting up
    - having finished a long work-out my trainer set up for me.
    - discussing a new book with our gay book-group
    - having dinner with friends

Well, in the "what makes you smile" thread I wrote that it was being met inside the airport by someone who cares about you, and closed with "It doesn't happen that often for me, but I'm hoping maybe this weekend it could be a birthday present...I doubt it, though. icon_sad.gif"

Last night, I got one of the best birthday presents EVER. The person I thought would never waste time and money to wait inside an airport did just that. He had even gotten my expectations all low by texting me the usual, asking what door I'd be waiting at and everything. I was walking in from the gate, listening to "don't feel bad" kinds of songs on the iPod, when I looked up and saw him standing there. My heart just exploded with happiness...just completely blew open so big I thought my chest wouldn't be able to contain it. So, yes, for me it is very much the simple things that have big impacts. icon_biggrin.gif

The simple things that make me 'happy', personally:

1.- Waking up @ 4:15am daily, and meeting my workout routine solemnly with no people to wait after or for.

2.- Days that cruise on by, smooth-like.

3.- Every now n' again have a slice of 'Bacon' without being inundated by guilt.

    4.- Having sensational sex. icon_cool.gificon_biggrin.gificon_cool.gif
