I did a 12k last May, then three half marathons before the end of the year...and I used to HATE running. I'm working my way up to a full marathon now! It is a definite addiction.
One of the most awesome things (other than the endorphin high) is that when you train up for other events, what used to be an achievement becomes "normal;" it is definite proof of your body getting stronger and faster!
