Misdirected energy to try to do something like that.

By middle school most gay kids are aware that they are somehow different and I think it’s essential that they have folks to talk to who may not necessarily be parents. In most instances parents are the last ones that they want to talk with while going through this self realization. Below is a good example of what happens if they don’t have the right people to help them work through this. This kid lived through it, but many don’t.

This reminds me of the "abstinence only" sex education. If you pretend something doesn't exist, it goes away, right? icon_rolleyes.gif
Nothing that happens in the American south surprises me any more. That's why I moved as far away as I could as soon as I had the chance.

Surely this goes against freedom of expression and would be unconstitutional?

We used to have something similar in the UK called Section 28.Introduced by hte Conservative Government in the 1980s. It was a terrible, hateful piece of legislation, thankfully now repealed. It was based on the notion talking about homosexuality spreads it and recruting homosexuals in schools. There is still a waryness to talk about homosexuality in schools in Britain as school kids are apparently too young to deal with the "adult" subject.....

OF COURSE, this happened in a Republican-controlled part of the country.
And this is the kind of shit the Repubs would like to force on the entire country.
If we don't VOTE against them, they'll succeed too.
