Hey guys - has anyone signed up for grindr and can get it on the blackberry? I got one last year in anticipation that it was coming out but no avail. I have a Bold 9700 and I'm nearing the end of the contract so may get it changed to an Android so I can get it on this.

Yeah, I had a blackberry for awhile and grindr was in beta (closed off) the whole time. It's been over a year, I think. Who knows if/when it will ever have an official release?

I just recently switched to an android phone (not just for grindr, but because Sprint gave me a free one). Though I miss my blackberry in many ways, I'm happy with the switch. I also feel like it's way more modern than blackberry's somewhat dated OS (I was stuck on OS5, but 6 might be a different story). Grindr works reasonably well too ;)

I hate the Grindr app for Android. I used it for a few days and deleted it. It was far too slow to load anything, and kept getting my GPS location wrong, even after turning GPS on and off. It said GPS accuracy was within 300ft, but it was putting me about 40 miles away. Even Foursquare gets my location much closer than Grindr, and FS doesn't do too well. When a guy's picture was loading, sometimes it took up to 5 minutes to load, even when the image size wasn't too big. (Grindr doesn't seem to have a limit on how big the photo is that you upload.)

That said, I've had much better luck with the settings in Scruff.

Honestly, I'd get the Android phone over Blackberry anyway. I've got 1 friend who uses a Blackberry (and uses the Grindr beta, having many of the same problems I have), and is constantly complaining that those of us with iphones and droids have it better. He swears he's switching to iphone when his contract is up.
