Last March, I got my new PB of 1 hour 35 mins (and 48 seconds!!) Considering I took up running a year ago, I'm mighty proud, and plan to get an even quicker time when I do the Helensburgh, Coventry and Birmingham half marathons in August, September and October this year.

Whats your PB and how's your training going?

haha, takes a while sometimes for people to get started.

my PB is also 1h35 but that goes back about 4 years. It's the one and only 1/2 marathon i ever did , in Ottawa . I kind of hit the wall at km 18 and finished miserably . Never quite figured out the real cause : lack of preparation, hydration, remnants of a head cold or lack of food... or combination of factors.
I 've always done 5k and 10k's but longer distances take too much training time.

you should be really proud of your achievement , no doubt your timings will drop if you'e only taken it up a year ago.
    Congrats icon_smile.gif

Thanks mate - you too. Going to try to better the time, though I still keep making boking noises (sick noises!) and wretching during the last sprint for some weird reason...(I've put a previous post about this!)

I just did a 1:32, which I was pretty happy with. The two things I found helped training the most were mixing it up (some days distance, some sprints, some hard etc) and also on the distance runs going way further than the half marathon distance. The times I have gone under 1:35, I have always got some 15 mile plus runs in.

    Good luck!

1:28:23 is my only and PB for now. Although I don't think I was running at full speed since I was conserving for the end. When I got to the end, I realized I probably could have been 2 minutes faster.

    1:29:46 off 35 miles a week, 13-15 mile long runs...no speed work.

HM's not my distance of choice, but it's a good challenge every once in awhile.

    That times outstanding. Congrats!

    Some great times, guys!

My PR is 1:39:12 from last year. Do intervals, fartleks, etc. Run 3-4 days/week, averaging 20-25 miles. Only do halfs once a year, a few 5k and 10k sprinkled here and there.

Am preparing for my first sprint tri this summer---swimming is my worst. God help me! icon_smile.gif

Started running 4 months ago and just finished my first race of any kind ever!

Gun time: 1:39:17. Chip time: 1:38:49

My personal and only best I suppose. LOL. Considering I was aiming for 1:45, I'm very pleased! icon_biggrin.gif
