Farewell, tongue ring

After about 10 years of companionship, I had to say goodbye to my tongue ring. My bottom front teeth were sore along the gum line again, and over the time that I've had it, that has happened more frequently. My gums aren't really receding or anything like some people experience, but it was time to take it out. Any benefit coming from the tongue ring went directly to the person I was kissing or blowing. Any negatives were directly on me.

My mouth feels weird now... Throughout the day, I've found myself trying to play with it in my mouth, and it's not there. Drinking and eating feels strange. I can whistle louder, but my speech isn't affected. I sorta miss it already, but my teeth instantly felt better (at least, from the aggravation from them being a little sore).

I'm going to have to go blow a guy I've blown before to see if they can tell the difference. I've noticed a small difference from the few guys I've gotten head from that had a ring, but that could have just been that they were really good at giving head. Looks like I'll have to perform a rigorous series of experiments with both a control group and an experimental group. I've got my work cut out for me. icon_wink.gif

I have a tongue ring and have been taking it out for work everyday for about 8 years now. Mine is pierced a little farther back than most peoples so it doesn't click against my teeth or gums and is hardly even noticed when I talk with it in!

    MuchMoreThanMuscle saidto Pyro:

So were your teeth sore because your tongue piercing kept hitting your teeth?

And it is typical to experience aggravated and/or receding gums from a tongue piercing?

Piercings seem to be losing their "appeal" I noticed.

Although I still think about getting a PA. icon_twisted.gificon_twisted.gif

Yes, my front bottom teeth would get sore along the gum line from time to time. The barbell I had in for the last few years was just large enough to fit on my tongue when it was at its thickest.

It is typical to have sore gums, sometimes receeding gums, etc, after a few years of having it. I got mine placed in an area where I would have been able to place another barbell behind it, and at least one more in front of it. I was later advised against doing so by my friend / piercing artist, due to people not keeping them in very long (for teeth issues). I was fortunate enough to be able to keep the bar in for a little over 10 years, whereas most people get rid of theirs after a few.

Piercings were trendy once, and when the MTV kids started getting pierced, EVERYBODY was getting pierced. Many have moved onto tattoos and whatnot. Piercings are still popular with the body modification crowd, due to them being only semi-permanent, and newfound... erm... "mobility?" of them. What I mean is, with surface piercings, you can get pierced practically anywhere, and still be able to remove them later.

I still love all of my piercings. I've let about 6 of them heal over, with one (the tongue) now in the healing process, so that number will increase to 7. I've got 9 left. I still love my nipple rings (for practical purposes), and my PA is by far my favorite piercing, again, for practical reasons. I love it even more every time I stretch it. I would highly recommend a PA! The healing time is short, the healing process is easy (no maintenance, as urinating cleans it for you), and it's really not that big of a deal to squat / sit down to piss. I can still piss standing up, but there is a risk of getting spray in about a 7-inch radius around my urine stream. The pros BY FAR outweigh the cons with a PA.

My other piercings are mostly for looks, though 5 of them have personal meaning to me. Most of the times that I am pierced now, I let them heal without metal in them (play piercing, etc). It's still a unique experience every time I am pierced, and brings about its own feeling of nirvana, servitude, dominance, and self-perspective. Damn I love needles...
