Would you ever repeat high school? How was your experience?

First off, my high school experience wasn't bad, it was actually good but just completely BORING. I go to a good public high school north of Seattle in the suburbs and in terms of diversity it's OK, but it's predominately whites. Most of my "friends" eventually got on my nerves and I started to see their true colors at the end of senior year. Most teachers at my school suck as well and I feel like I wouldn't hate Chemistry or History if my teachers weren't so crappy. I'm so glad I'll be done with high school in just a couple of months...just the thought of getting away from the cliques, the same people, and boring gen ed classes. I'm sure these are prevalent in college but at least it's easier to escape from it! Also, the gay scene is not terrible but kind of on the bad side here. Most people are accepting but there are homophobes who love picking on gays. Anyways, high school just sucks for gays. But I always feel like there are tons of people who just want to stay in high school forever, which leads me to ask this question: How was your high school experience? (It doesn't have to be about being gay in high school, just your experience)

I went to 3 different High Schools. I was out in each one of them. No one ever gave me a hard time. I was one of those cool break dancer guys ;). I would not want to go back to high school though. That was so 2002. It would also mean that I would be illegal. Fuck that! icon_cool.gif

    NO. I dropped out.
    Didn't get a GED either.
I am in college now and graduating in December.

Therefore, HIGH SCHOOL IS FUCKING USELESS.

The first guy that I fucked was 26 and I was 16. I also met him at a club :p ! Actually I got stopped by the cops when giving a guy a blow job at a make out place when I was 16. Good thing I lost my wallet that day or otherwise he would have known I was 16. The other guy was 23. I just would rather prefer if I was legal icon_smile.gif. Also, I'm not a hoe nowadays. Actually I never used to be one but if your a hoe more power to you. I love hoes!

I'm in two minds, best part of my life was at Uni, after school.
Everyone was mature enough to be understanding and accepting of diversity and I flourished as I felt no shame to be myself, explore and better understand myself.
I would like to have done that sooner. In high school - I would either that to fade into the background or be ground into dust by the tormentors among them.

    High School:
+ watching the hot jocks in the locker room (and the smell of their sweat!)
    - bullying, sitting at the nerd table in cafeteria, being elected "Most Dramatic" for yearbook (was that Old English for "Most Likely Gay"?)
    College was soooo much better.

N.E.V.E.R. ......I'm sure from the outside I looked happy and enjoying it, but I was MISERABLE for the most part. College was like HEAVEN when I got here after the high school experience.

I went to a prep school in Charleston with a bunch of absolute snobs

And have to move back to the rural sticks with all the hillbillies and rednecks? Hell no.

I'll stick to my city living, even with the traffic, crowded coffee shops, noisy downtown, and snooty neighbors, thank you so very much.

I actually loved high school! Classes were 1000 times easier. Plus me and my friends had some really fun times back then. I miss cross country and track too (even though I was just a little twink back then). The only thing I hated about it were those long ass days compared to just going to a few classes each day in college.

I think ive explained in the other thread that my Community college experience is basically HS II. no gay guys.... just being a loner, I don't want to go back to that pain. However, there are things I would want to redo ie, probably not breaking up with my ex BF, and other stuff.

I went to two private catholic boy's schools. When the insult of choice to belittle anyone is to call them a "faggot", it's not the safest place to be for gays icon_rolleyes.gif

Pros: classes were easy, not doing homework was not as crucial as for uni, didn't have to study, interesting classes (art, science, whatnot). Annual awards are nice.

Cons: Sexual harrassment, having to deal with guys with zero academic interest in senior years (they would have been more engaged taking on an apprenticeship from age 16), general culture of denial, conformity, peer pressure.

It was boring in the last two years and I didn't get laid icon_evil.gif

There were no open gays or bis in my year, but about 3 came out immediately on graduating. I was in denial for a further two years. I know of some others that are still in denial.

I think that is anywhere with kids that age. At my regular public school people would do the same thing

I know it sucks, but the very idea that there is any gay "scene" at all in high school still blows my mind.

I went to a high-pressure, prestigious all male prep school that prepared me extremely well for higher education, but it was a social nightmare. Very concerned about turning out a prototypical "man," which meant straight, sports-oriented and religious. Academic achievement officially was valued highest, but not in reality. My college counselor told me I would never hack it in the university I chose and urged me to set my sights lower. Asshole. Showed him. icon_razz.gif
