Is it just me or are gay men in their 40's/50's way, WAY better looking than their straight counterparts? I look around on Realjock and I am amazed at the bodies of these guys. They are incredible.

I look at a guy and think "he's about 32" and then find out he is OLDER than me!! It really makes me feel great about getting older myself. I can do anything I used to do, but I am also wiser and more calm in my spirit. Being in your 40's is the bomb and dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

Not really anything TO discuss - I totally agree with you, on all points!

I look forward to being a hot muscle daddy in my 40s icon_cool.gif

My straight friends my age give me every reason in the book why they aren't in good shape, why they cant work out. Why they have more wrinkles, why they never have sex.

As far as being a muscle daddy in your 40's, in the meantime enjoy the age you are and every once in a while, give an older guy a chance and he will shock you with his wisdom and sense of humor.

Have you guys seen this insane thread ( http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/1507103/ ) by some guy who is 25, and he's bitching that he is OLD??? Wtf? I enjoy aging, because it's natural and feels right. I am in my mid 30's, btw...

Hmmm. I have mixed thoughts on this topic all the time. I will turn 50 next year. I think I look much better the older I get, but am more mentally stressed.

There is nothing we can do with the aging process, so might as well go with it, and make the best of it.

Shit... really? I'm 21 and my mental stress becomes physical stress and I can't even handle that shit.

This is just my simple opinion...but many of my hetero friends who are in their 40s and 50s, who have been in a long term relationship/marriage with the same woman for 20 + years, do not spend time in the gym, eating clean or using skin products. Just sayin'.

Totally agree...guys 40+ usually look great...what is more I met a couple years ago a sexy guy..and he is 54 now...and many 20's and 30' something would like to have his physique and energy..this guy not only runs marathons but also these days does triathlons...not many 20's and 30's something can do that for sure ;)....I think the older you get, the more take care of yourself you get into...and I am planning to keep myself in decent shape at all ages as well...age is just a number, right? but you also have to do your homework icon_wink.gif

In my 20s, I always went for guys in their 30s and 40s cause I thought they were very sexy. Once I hit 35, I started to look at guys younger than me, which I still do. But at 40, I'm still finding guys in their 40s and 50s very hot and sexy. The younger guys are very cute and hot as well.

    QUOTE Apr 20, 2011 1:22 PM GMT
Where I live their are numerous hot straight men, which I think has more to do with the beach lifestyle than gyms. There is one married dad at the gym in his mid-40s who is the most friendly and beautiful guy I can think of here. He use to play professional baseball. I've met quite a few mature surfers who are total hunks, but I've also met some who have gotten so heavy I wonder how they can still do the sport.

Having said all of that I'm inclined to agree that gay men are more likely to maintain their bodies but unfortunately, for too many, their self esteem is solely depended on how hot they feel they look. This creates a kind of fading movie star personality where they desperately maintain their bodies while fretting over lost or graying hair and wrinkles. A straight man has to offer a woman a bit more than a hot body. All I have to do is ask the former baseball player about his son and we are quickly engaged in a conversation. I have one paddling friend who is too heavy for me (though since he separated he hit the gym and has lost 20lbs) to find physically attractive but he has the quid essential personality I find so hard to find in gay men. He can be vulgar and a slob (but so can I) but he is the type of dad that takes his son canoe camping on weekends.

I've heard so many older gay men get upset about being called daddy or sir. I don't understand this. I suppose they feel that because they have such great bodies they should still be viewed as hot boys not mature men. If a gay man calls me a hot daddy I don't hear hot old man but rather hot nurturing loving man. When straight men call me sir as they so often do here in the south, I hear distinguished gentlemen. In the south they started calling me sir the day I bought my first suit. Even while living in the north (which was most of my adult life) I was called sir as young as my late 20s. Did that make me feel old? No, I felt empowered. I couldn't leave boyhood behind fast enough.

I just recently turned 45 this month and honestly I feel very blessed for my health. I'm sure my habits don't hurt, like being a vegetarian, working out a few times a week, and biking as much as I can in the summer. I don't keep alcohol at the house, and I've never been able to pick up a smoking habit.

As far as meeting guys over the last few years, it really hasn't been a problem. However, there are a ton of guys that, once they find out your age, have nothing to do with you.

I always think a man in is 40's is hot especially when he takes good care of him self. I'm pushing 40 in the next few years and I feel and think way better than I ever did. I look at some of my friends on FaceBook who I went to school with and they look so much older and out of shape. Their all divorced and fat with wrinkles. They all married really young too. I never got that.

I'm 53 and doing things to push my body that I never dreamt were possible in my 20's and 30's. I keep thinking "when is the downward decline?"...but then I see guys on here older than me that look amazing and I know that it can be done. It's just a matter of focus on a healthy lifestyle and having the discipline to make it happen.

Plus, in every other way...the wisdom, maturity and insight makes you so much more whole and complete. You guys in your 40's (and younger) have plenty to look forward to.

Lol, thanks man. In real life I get a lot of strange and interesting reactions when someone asks my age. I really hate giving out my age though.....ugh.
