"All iPhones appear to log your location to a file called "consolidated.db." This contains latitude-longitude coordinates along with a timestamp. The coordinates aren't always exact, but they are pretty detailed. There can be tens of thousands of data points in this file, and it appears the collection started with iOS 4, so there's typically around a year's worth of information..."

Haha, I should make a simple emergency app that overwrites all data on your phone's storage devices with the ascii code for "FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU."

IPhones and IPads store your GPS movements. Nobody is sure why.

The device has the ability to access ALL phones. But I've heard that Michigan Police only has plugs/software to access the most current/common phones.

You know when you go to the cell phone store to upgrade to a new phone, and they offer to transfer all of your phonebook info, text messages, and pics from your old phone to your new phone? Well, this device that Michigan Police are using is pretty much the same thing.

Old technology, used for new (and evil) purposes.

Complete violation of my privacy. This is insane.

HOWEVER, I fully understand responsible cops checking things if there's suspicion, and not using any found information in an abusive way. Therein lies the concern with so many corrupt, untrustworthy authority figures "protecting" our citizens.
