Show has a great gay character, but what's up with these trendy-people sitcoms where every line is delivered at rapid speed? It's annoying and exhausting. icon_eek.gif

    But, great gay character.

Actually, that's my criticism. There's no reason to deliver jokes and lines so quickly. It comes off as "look at how clever we are." Many shows are like this now. The speed should be like "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Been catching that in reruns and it's excellent.

I think this practice came about from Gilmore Girls. If you watch any episode, you'll soon be in tears begging for the characters to at least pause for breath for two seconds. It's non-stop rapid-fire dialogue all the way.

i think that the "gary" character was deeeeeppppppp in the "over compensating" closet and had it bad for his best friend micheal...neither one of 'em realized it.

In case you're wondering guys, he's talking about thirtysomething. Many of you were in diapers when it came on. icon_wink.gif

Speaking of gay characters, I like that the straight guys and gay guy are buddies and his sexual orientation is pretty much a nonissue except when played for laughs when his parents come to visit.

I love this show. It has become one of my new favorites. He is one of the only older gay characters on t.v. Plus, it reminds me of my circle of friends. We are still friends all these years later after college.

Starting to grow on me. I think the network was smart to do two episodes back-to-back the last two weeks to give you more time to warm up to the show and the characters. One thing I don't like is how it feels like it's trying way to hard to be clever.

Caught it last night just as the opening credits ended. Within the first few minutes
I'm going, At long last! Something that's actually fresh -- and laugh-out-loud funny!

This very gay guy I sort of know plops down on another sofa and I'm all in his face going, "What is this show? What's it called? Oh come on, tell me you know what this is! That guy's gay, but his parents think his best friend is the gay one, but he's not. Doesn't he remind you of me in a way. What? No! No laugh track. How awesome is that? That's what makes it funny! And that guy's name is Hitler! Get it? You do know who Hitler is, right? Hey! Where you going? You're not gonna watch this?"

He gave that all-too-familiar look of his and left the lounge. From experience, I know this to mean "Um, it's not for me. Have fun". Translation: "I don't get it. And there's no famous people. If you like it, it must be 'highbrow'. I'm outta here."

    The show's doomed.

Yep. The dialogue is way too fast. You don't to do that if the jokes are good enough.
