    I can't really edit video and audio files at the same time on a typewriter =

    Unfortunately, I can attest that the Linux flow chart is 100% true. I'm still quietly weeping. icon_sad.gif

    You missed Eunuchs.

    1. Call Silicon Graphics. Leave a message for the one person on the planet who is authorized to speak to you, but who is currently on walkabout in Chad or some fuckng place.

    2. (Much, much later). Purchase the latest software patch that addresses that bug for $1500.

    3. Purchase a service contract for that software patch for $1000 per year.

    4. Hey.... some kid just wrote some freeware for Mac OS that does the same thing that this heap of junk is supposed to do...

    Or what about all those proprietary Hewlett Packard OSs that they made you buy to run their lab instruments, before they went over to whinedoze.

    1. To make it work, you need to buy their 1MB hard drive for $2000. (When 30MB was going for $200.)

    2. To use the printer, you need the latest software update for $5000.

    3. To make the software update work, you need to replace half the circuit boards in the instrument, plus a completely new controller box for about $3000.

    4. Repeat. Forever.

    step 1 - hit it hard on the right side and reboot
    step 2 - did that fix the problem?

    no-> back to step 1

    no-> back to step 1

    I was thinking more along the lines of

    -hit on right then left then throw out window
    -light fire and make smoke signals

    The process for fixing Linux is very stereotypical and not fair...

    *looks in mirror on desk next to C++ book, sees beard*
