    Tell me about it icon_confused.gif

    It takes me like 6 months just to shed 15 lbs.

    On the other hand, if you want to gain more weight, just reduce your exercise and increase intake. If you do this for a long time you might see some weight change. Then you can work out and it will turn into muscle.

    I'm much the same way. I can stuff my pie hole 6 times a day and barely gain an pound or two even eating junk, it's just a slow slow process. I also have to slow down my daily routine, more sitting, less standing, less walking, take the elevator not the stairs sort of thing.. the exact opposite of what "we're supposed to do " But it does help.
    Not advocating becoming a couch potato at all but if you're like me, always on the move, jumping up to do this or that, etc etc.. you might have to ease up on that somewhat if you know what I'm saying.

    Are you getting too much aerobic exercise (treadmill, run, swim, walk a lot) ?
    That would stop you from gaining weight.

    In your workouts, do you do slow movements with heavy weights ?
    That's your best bet to gain muscle weight.

    And what's supposed to happen after that, it turns to fat? icon_rolleyes.gif

    Fat does not turn into muscle or vice versa. If you gain alot of weight, you might 'look' muscular because you've got all that fat covering your muscles. And then you won't have much in the way of definition...

    keep cardio to a minimum
    try going to bodybuilding.com and searching HST routine and start off with that. Count your calories, carbs and protein intake. Educate yourself as much as possible.
    Buy and drink a weight gainer.
    If none of the above works for you then I'm all out of ideas

    Why don't you try doing way less exercise-wise?

    Try doing compound lifts just twice a week, and only a few sets total but with heavy weight, and basically cutting out cardio. You could also try lifting extremely slowly (4 seconds up, 4 seconds down).

    The Four Hour Body (http://www.fourhourbody.com/) is a great read. The main thing I got out of it is to try different things, under controlled and measured circumstances, and see what works for your body.

    If you are doing the same thing repeatedly and not seeing results, you need to try something different. At the end of the day, there are very few variables, assuming you're healthy:
    * food/diet
    * frequency of lifting
    * intensity of lifting
    * amount of cardio
    * intensity of cardio
    * rest

    Each of those things is very complicated in and of itself, but making minor changes to each of them and seeing which works should be fairly easy.

    Some quick and easy things to try:
    * cut out cardio
    * halve the number of days you lift at the gym
    * lift at a much slower rate
    * try eating even more protein
    * try doing sets of 4 reps instead of 8, or 12 instead of 5
    * cut out carbs
    * eat twice as many carbs

    You could try any of the above for 2 weeks, and measure the changes. So measure your weight, measure your arms, chest, thighs, waist, calves, etc. Trying any of the above should have a noticeable impact over the course of two weeks. And whatever negative impact they have, it only took two weeks to get there, so it can't take longer than two weeks to remove the impact. (i.e. if you put on 10 pounds in that two weeks, big deal; you can lose ten pounds easily if you can put it on so easily).

    You could also read tons of stuff and do research and figure out why stuff does what it does and what will get you the best results. But really, what difference does it make why stuff works the way it does? And everything you read is theory until it works for you. If you're putting the time in at the gym and dietwise, then why not make sure that you track everything and measure what changes make the most difference? You can figure out the why later.

    Basically, turn your body into an experiment and figure out what to do to get the changes you want. It's definitely not rocket science.

    facebook likes this.

    anyway I HATE HATE HATE my skinny body. I dont have the bone structure to be a hot bodybuilder with the wide back and thick neck. i have broad but skinny shoulders and a giraffe neck, and my hip bones stick out. I would honestly kill to be able to gain weight like a normal person. Fuck America trying to make everything low fat!

    I like to go to wendy's or burger king and get a triple cheeseburger. I have a few times gotten 5 chili cheese burgers from checkers. Naturally I eat them all on the same night...but WHAT? At the end of the week I weigh one pound more.
