I saw this yesterday and thought I'd share, its a pretty cool idea if you think about it ha

    Bacon Roses
    81447957.jpg

    1 regular pack & 1 thick cut pack); Rose Stems; Glass Vase; Mini Muffin Pan; Broiler Pan; Drill with 1/8 bit;
    81447958.jpg

Place the muffin pan on top of the broiler pan.
    81447959.jpg

Drill holes in the bottom of the muffin pan. This will allow the grease to drain when cooking the bacon.
    81447960.jpg

Preheat the oven to 375 deg. Fahrenheit; Open the bacon and begin tightly rolling the roses, one piece at a time.
    81447961.jpg

Start with the widest end of the bacon, with the fat edge down. I like to use a combination of thick and thin bacon so I end up with a variety of rose shapes
    81447962.jpg

Place all of the bacon in the muffin pans pushing down slightly.
    81447963.jpg

Pull all of the roses off from the stems. Pull the green backing off from the rose and then separate it into individual parts.
    81447964.jpg

Discard petals & center red piece. Reassemble remaining green parts. Put green piece back on stem, but force it down so approx 1 inch of stem protrudes
    81447965.jpg

Put the stems in your vase and fill with gravel or marbles to hold them in place.
    81447966.jpg

Place in the oven and cook for 30-40 minutes. Check in on them occasionally. Sometimes you will have to lift the rose so the grease will drain out the pan.
    81447967.jpg

Pick your favorites and slide them onto the protruding stems.
    81447969.jpg

Arrange the roses to your liking and then present the aromatic bouquet to your favorite bacon fanatic!

You can tell a man spent some time on them if there are little rain drops on the leaves...

    Most lovely!

I tend to go easy on the bacon, but that is wonderful. Another thing I've had is a baked Prosciutto Blossom, formed into a big flower, containing a filet mignon medallion inside.

I love presentations like this! I'll be showing this to my partner, who's the chef in the family. Thanks much!

OMG, I did just show my partner this, and he went wild! He's gonna do it! He's already figured how he'll use the rose petals, all scattered over the table. We don't have a mini muffin pan, so we need to get one, and then drill it (or I think we can just drive a 10-penny nail through it into a board below).

We're gonna do this for our next dinner party! icon_biggrin.gif

StandardSocal I expect a dozen of these for our first date. If you can manage to have them dipped in chocolate, then we're going to start talking wedding plans. icon_biggrin.gif

You'd really come? You're on the invite list! I have your actual phone number.

It might be in May, because we're planning a dinner here for a friend who's moving away the end of the month, and we have an odd number at this point, if you don't mind coming stag. Not a single guy, I'm afraid, a lesbian friend of ours who's alone. Let's talk.

Chocolate and bacon are a great combination. They go together like peanut butter and jelly.

They actually sell them like that. They're little bits of plastic.
