My thoughts, too. Actually I think I know where that bow tie came from, made for him at Beau Ties, Ltd, in Vermont.
That's were I have my own bows made, one of the few places in the US where you can still find self-tie bows, rather than pre-tied ready-made. That knot was clearly tied by him (or his husband).
And only Beau Ties has outrageous patterns like he's wearing, and in a wide butterfly if you wish, since they're custom made to your neck size, including the black formal and seasonal novelty ones I get (I refuse to wear an adjustable neck buckle, especially if I'm in a wing collar).
