Conspiracy theorists/technophobes can skip this one. While expensive, overweight battery technology killed the electric car the last time, with the hundreds of millions venture capitalists and governments have put in, I suspect economical electric cars are inevitable. That said, I think natural gas (cng/lng) conversions would be the ideal intermediary step:

I love all kinds of cars. Personally I am leaning on bio diesel now.

Nothing like a bmw inline 6 diesel running on full octane.

Natural gas is not great for cars. Huge loss of performance and even engine damage due to lack of lubrication as cng doesn t lube the block.

Also , on cold starts you need to run on gasoline to warm up before you switch to cng.

Biodiesel, no difference, full power curve will be right there, and you ll make more torque and burn less anyways to boot.

Electric...Well I am still waiting on the Tesla model S

IMO, hybrid tech like the Chevy Volt is probably the best for the average driver. If they can come up with something besides a gas engine, even better.

Just paid off my Prius. I'm eying the progression of the electric car very carefully. Just waiting for some reviews and a price reduction and I'm getting one.
