Do you feel this describes how most gay people feel about prostitution?

I was a bit disturbed by some of the comments made in my other thread by:

    Pyrotech said
What? Like you've never panicked and killed a hooker before. It's not like they're real people or anything. icon_wink.gif

Scruffypup saidOh please. Yeah, like you really look at a prostitute with the same respect as anyone else. Bullshit.

I see this all the time. Although some gay guys seem to have live and let live attitude, there's also a large amount who seem to be compelled to make some smirk comment about it. And then when they do meet someone who is, all of a sudden there's a dark cloud hovering over them. Shamed. Ashamed. Disease prone thing you...

I really cannot understand why so many guys like to make fun of people who sell sex, or get so riled up over the idea of it YET...It's perfectly fine to go out on Saturday night and have a quick fling with the next guy and the next guy and repeat. It's totally fine to throw and ad up on gay.com or adam4adam free sex chat/hookup and do that all day long.

What makes you any better? And what is it their business anyway...?

I dont think anyone should judge any one. i think weve all done things, where outisders looking in... will say thats disgusting or that there better then u.. but i bet those same ppl who judge, have done things where other pppl will judge them... judging ppl is wrong, u dont no there story, hardships, the shit they been thru... so to answer ur question, times are hard and ppl need to do what they need to, to survive who are we to judge.. and like u said theres so many ppl who have one night stands, prostitutes are just being smart and makin a living off of it.. and its so funny a gay guy would say anything when ppl say were disgustin, gross, dirty, sinners, less then human, the list goes on.. but yet we dont like it when ppl say that... so why would they say it about anyone else... thats just my opinion, unno if its rite but thats just how i think...

    1) Maybe because it's illegal. People say nasty things about arsonists and extortionists too.

    2) It's the interwebs. People say snarky things all the time. Some say shocking things online just to get a reaction, things they would never say in real life. Some people are insecure and need to belittle others to temporarily feel better themselves. Some are just asshats.

You're not going to win any friend by making it confrontational.

Exactly...I think some people get into this state or normalcy and rightfully think they are, which gives them a false sense of entitlement to criticize someone else.

Yeah but you can't be serious to think that arson and prostitution are in the same bracket?

Hey, at least I didn't include pedophiles to the list.

My opinion is that prostitution should be legalized and prostitutes should be licensed and tested.
Until that happens, prostitution is illegal pretty much everywhere in the US. People will look down on prostitution and ask, "Why can't you get a decent (read legitimate) job?"

I don't agree with the whole licensing thing. In Europe you don't have to have a license and the government should not be that in control of it.

Even if prostitution was legal I bet people would still ask questions like that. The correct response to that would be, "why does it bother you so much and can't you be happy that they're happy?"

The first one I don't agree with, the second one depends on the hooker and his/her circumstances. If it's for fun, no respect for the occupation, but I would respect the person, but not befriend them or associate myself with them. If it's because of hardship I will feel sorry for them, but there are people that are experiencing hardship and they choose to work three jobs and for them I have way more respect. If judging means giving my opinion on something, than I don't mind to be judgmental.

I don't think most gay people feel like that about prostitution, rather the opposite.

To me it's no ones business what two consenting adults do in private and paying for sex is a private concern. I would be no different acting towards a prostitute, call boy whatever than anyone else. I'd either like them for themselves or not, not for what they do, just like anyone else I know or meet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with selling sex. I think that in quite a few instances buying sex is wrong though. Historically (as well as today in many places) the selling has been stigmatized but the buying has been accepted, even though imo it should've been the other way around.

OK, so you're basically saying that you respect someone who chooses to slave over 3 different jobs and make 3 different people rich and pretty much be a subservient peasant more than someone who has a entrepreneurial spirit instead?

OK, that makes absolutely no sense and that is just as worse as believing that selling it is wrong. I'm confused icon_confused.gif

Yes, I make hooker jokes. My favorite ones are 'dead hooker' jokes. Along with dead baby jokes, jokes about AIDS and cancer, red heads, along with other topics. You're not special just because you're a hooker, and you won't get special treatment from me.

I think the key take-away from that thread is:
"Nobody in real life likes you because you're a whiny bitch. Get over it."

I don't agree with "selling sex". It's a cheap way out for someone. Get a real job and build your self up to be the best person that you can be. Selling sex is disgusting to me. Your body is your temple and it should only be for the one you love. Not for random strangers for $$.. Ewww...

Funny how you feel entitled to take away special treatment, which I never asked for in the first place. Special treatment is not something you could give me, that's already been taken care of. Condo? paid. Car? has my name on it. HDTV? He bought it for me but everything else was bought by me. Baby it's all good in this neighborhood!

If nobody likes me in real life, then how is it that I can go out to a bar and pull in less than an hour, and hardly ever leave without getting atleast 1 number? And how is it that I can travel all over the country for not only free, but for profit. Obviously someone has to like me?

Stop hating, don't be jealous. Give me credit where it's due. It's going to take alot more than that to bruise my self-confidence and don't think you're going to run me off from here. I'm here. Deal with it. You don't know me well enough to even be talking like that.

I see you're from the middle east...So basically what you're saying is that you believe that sodomy is perfectly fine and gay is not disgusting? Did you forget where your roots are from? Need I remind you?

What are you talking about? where did you bring the Middle East from? These are simply my personal beliefs, values and morals.... You know from actually being raised well and having good parents... Something which I'm assuming you lacked as a child?

Bottom line is your a classless whore that sells their body and soul for money. I have no respect for someone like you because as I said before you chose the easy way out. You are lazy and don't want to better your self and try to be the best person that you can be. Instead you prostitute your body which is disgusting. The fact that you brag about material that you have and free trips that you take around the country proves how shallow and ugly you are. Knowledge is power my friend. Not an HDTV, not a condo. Those won't take you anywhere in life.. It's knowledge, friendships, love, friends, finding yourself and thriving for the best. Not being a cheap hooker. Get real. Or better yet get a diploma and/or a REAL job. icon_wink.gif

It's also the profession that will survive any economic downturn, and the profession that has prevented me from becoming homeless a few times.

I don't mean giving you money. I mean sparing my dead hooker jokes simply due to the fact that you're a hooker. If you were a hooker with cancer and AIDS, I might go lighter on the "Shit I just got aids from fucking that dead hooker. And cancer." jokes, but even that's a slight chance.

I hadn't read any of your posts until you started bitching about white people not liking you. That thread was annoying as fuck, so I just joked around with people in it. You took issue with that, because obviously I wasn't feeding into your pity party, and decided to make this thread about it to stir up more shit. If that's how you act in real life, then I don't want to have a beer with you.

That's because the average neighborhood crack dealer is uglier than the average prostitute.

There's nothing wrong with selling sex because a) there's nothing wrong with sex and b) the majority of prostitutes don't do it because it's fun or hot they do it because they often don't have much of a choice, whether it's because it's the only way to support themselves or because they're being forced by someone else, in a trafficking situation.

Which leads to my opinion that buying sex is often wrong because it it involves taking advantage of other people's desperation and often supports organized crime and what is basically slavery (trafficking).

Of course there are situations where none of these things apply which is why I use "often wrong" rather than "always". I still find it a bit skeevy though.
