THOR - It Rocks!

I read somewhere that the US release of Thor isn't until May 6th or something, but it's already out in the UK and I saw it last night.

Very pleased with it! Had high expectations and they were met - it's not perfect and didn't blow me away but it's great, a definite THOR-star film :-)

If you're hoping for more shirtless Chris Hemsworth action than the trailer though you'll be a bit disappointed - the scene that's from is very brief (though you do see him shirtless for a good few seconds and his body is awesome) and that's all you get - no other shirtless scenes I'm afraid!

What I liked about it - great action scenes, perfect casting, loved particularly the girl played by Kat Dennings - plenty of injections of humour but not in a camp cheesy way, and I liked how the story was both epic in scale (i.e. between dimensions) yet also really rather small-scale (arrogant god-like being learns humility and what it means to be a king).

Thumbs up - go see! Though I saw the 2D version because I heard the 3D was applied post-production and I don't see the point unless a film is filmed in 3D, it just distracts me and costs more money!

I saw it last week in 3D - i think it was released in Australia earlier than most countries. Yep, it was pretty awesome. The acting was great - Hemsworth has come a long way since Home and Away, that's for sure lol. The cinematography is spectacular, and there's a cool scene with two men mud wrestling. Sounds almost like a Tom Ford film, lol.
Cons (SPOILER): i think it should be released as "Part 1" because in the end almost nothing is resolved so there has to be sequel to tie up all the loose ends. The story isn't that memorable, i think, but it was entertaining overall.

He doesn't wear the helmet often but yeah sometimes. His brother has a freaky helmet though, like a beetle icon_lol.gif

It's still worth the price of admission to see it on the big screen. His body is now my target physique - built and lean without being overly bulky or scarily veiny-lean. Like I said, awesome.

It is brief but WORTH IT! icon_biggrin.gif (and more than just what's in the trailer)
In any case he shows veeeeeeeery nicely even with the full Thor outfit on icon_razz.gif
Besides the eye candy (I thought Loke was cute too btw) the movie was great all the way through.
Getting that one bluray. The 3D sucks though. I would rather have seen it in 2D.

The movie looks cheesy as hell...but in a good way! I'm not sure why but Chris Hemsworth, to me, is NOT hot! I do like Natalie Portman and Kate Denings, plus the movie is getting solid reviews so i'll end up checking it out sometime next week.

Each to their own...Trek was also a good film APPART from that fucking terrible Mc Accent that Simon Pegg tried to do. And his sodding stupid sidekick. Ruined the film. Made Jimie Doohan's accent sound convincing!

Got my Thor t shirt all picked out to wear Friday night when it opens, cannot wait, hope there is not any cheesy humor in it, I am worred about the Natalie Portman sidekick and her worth to the storyline talking about poptarts and facebook in the trailer

This thread reminded me of a very old joke I heard in college.

Bottom: You fucked me so hard and long I'm really sore. Boo Hoo!

    Top (with a lisp): I'm tho Thor I can't even pith! icon_wink.gif

(I think they both need to learn about lube.)

It had the perfect amount of comedy, action, special effects, and it didn't take itself too seriously (hello X-Men movies). My favorite Marvel movie so far, future Marvel movies need to take notes from this one.

    Also, Chris Hemsworth.

no. everyone that went to see Thor wanted to see a summer blockbuster. the whiny little teenage girls complaining about him wearing a shirt need to get out more, perhaps internet porn isnt doing it for them anymore.

The new Magneto on the other hand...

Michael Fassbender is a handsome talented actor. He was great in inglorious basterds.. I hope the new xmen movie supersets his career.

Marvel movies are usually awesome. Not the biggest Thor fan in terms of comics and video games, but the movie does look epic. Thanks for letting me know it won't be a waste of money to go see it. icon_biggrin.gif
