Is birth certificate BS proof that a lot of Repubs are racist?

I recall when prop8 was going to the polls. There was many gay and bisexual brothers here; some who had already been married to women who were celebrating already before all the votes had been counted, before people had even finished voting. They felt a need to shove the win that never came in the faces of the conservatives. I did try to warn them not to get to excited and not count there chickens before they hatched, and all I received was aggressive abuse. I knew prop8 was going to pass, but how could you tell them that.

So when prop8 did pass they felt this have them the right to act all badly, prevent people from going to church, getting home from work, the lot, just because they ow felt a need to venticon_rolleyes.gif

The left is so full of hater, now they are trying to incite it by claiming racist. Obama could of put a stop to this speculation years ago. Now he is acting like a petulant child, who didn't get his way. But hay lets blame the conservative, if it allows you to ignore your own issues, of anger and hate.

Conservatives are to blame. Aside from the lies and half truths, the Birther issue is a thinly veiled racist attack at the president. Now Republicans are attacking Obama's academic record. Republicans should be fighting the President on policy. Not creating a carnival-like side show to distract from the real issues facing America. Typical GOP. They don't have any solutions to the real problems- so they create a circus-like diversion.

If memory serves me correctly, and sometimes it doesn't at my age, most or all other presidential candidates released their academic records so exactly who is creating the "circus like diversion"?

It has nothing to do with playing the race card, but with authenticating a document. Certain lingo was used at certain times, in regards to race. For example, a buddy of mine's 1966 birth certificate actually lists a race, while my daughters' (from the same state) lists nothing. Same with profession of the father and mother. The old version has it, the new one does not.

The left made this a race issue. It's apples and oranges. I think the right would have cared just as much if the birth certificate had read "white" instead of "caucasian." It just does not match the times.

This is all propagandizing and blowing everything out of proportion with gross generalizations based on the actions of a few, albeit it seems to have become your specialty. There are no true GOP Presidential contenders out there (and, NO, Donald Trump is not a true contender) who are calling into question Obama's birth certificate or its authenticity, nor are they questioning Obama's educational background to create carnival-like sideshow distractions. It's utterly absurd to take Donald Trump's actions --- clearly a P.R. campaign more than anything --- and twist them around to be representative of the entire GOP. There are Republicans out there, as there are Democrats, who are working on solutions to real problems. Surely you can see that, or perhaps you're just not paying attention.

If that is the case, why did Obama feel the need to produce the long form of his birth certificate yesterday? The short form was adequate enough.

Should have been produced when asked 2 1/2 years ago like every other Democrat and Republican did during the primaries, I believe. I’m not going to look this up right now, but I can’t recall any other of the candidates who refused to release them. Distraction yes, but created by whom?

It seems clear from the arrogant and ignorant refusal of the right-wingers to accept REALITY - that the radical right will continue to push this birther BS.
    Sweet!

All this birther BS just helps to illustrate that the radical right includes a LOT of crazy and untrustworthy haters.
    LOL!
Who the HELL would want to vote to put the running of our government in the hands of hatefilled fools who can't even distinguish between reality and right-wing fantasy?

Have you ever lived in the south ? Were you raised among midwest rednecks? Have you been among the blue color rednecks around the country? You don't have to read many stories of whats gone on against the President in Republican and Bagger circles to know that the author of most of this bullshit is none other than racism thinly vailed at that. In my part of the country even Dems said they weren't voting for no __________. This isn't the dems or liberals trying to play race cards, its just the facts, that's what is at the base of all of this bullshit, pure racism, it runs deep within our country.

Perhaps it's because he didn't provide this over 2.5 years ago when Hillary Clinton first brought it up. Blame HER for creating the monster that spiraled into conspiracy theories and a, justified or not, cloud of mystery because Obama wouldn't provide this in the first place. His lack of action only lead to more speculation which, fair or not, kept spiraling out of control until "The Birther" issue began overshadowing everything else. Obama NOT providing the authenticated long-form birth certificate started to become almost as absurd as those who were demanding to see it. Had he provided this early on, we likely wouldn't be having this discussion. By not providing it, Obama opened himself up to the mystery and speculation that ensued, unfair as that might have been.

The short form was provided prior to the 2008 elections. The short form is the official form utilized by the state of HI. The distraction to produce the long form was brought about by the Republican birthers.

    Not quite.

The fact that some Repubs think that equal rights means special rights for minorities is proof of their racism, sexism, and fear that the heterosexual white Christian male will lose privileged status in the US.

The birther nonsense is partially a distraction, to keep people from focusing on the important things.
There were people who really did have questions about Obama's nationality, but that has more to do with xenophobia than racism. To them Barack Hussein Obama does not sound like an "American name." Also, I'm willing to bet that some of them don't know that Hawaii is part of the US.

One positive from the birther waste of time is that my mom is finally convinced that Donald Trump is not a role-model, and I'm sure others feel the same about him now too.

    That argument doesn't hold water.
As soon as Trump took up the birther issue, he quickly rose in the polls to become the #1 highest-rated Repub nomination contender.
Repub voters heard him bringing up the birther BS - and threw their support behind him!
That proves that a huge chunk of Repub voters BUY all this birther BS.

That, sadly, is true. That being said, let's not pretend that racism is isolated to just Republicans and, more importantly, let's not pretend that racism exists only among white people. It could be argued that "racism" played a major part in getting Obama elected in the first place. All of this works both ways. This tired and dated argument that uses a broad brush to paint all Republicans as "The Racist White Man" is neither fair or accurate -- and it's offensive.
